Came here yesterday and was impressed. This restaurant is the best Persian restaurant i've been to by far. First of all, they do not microwave their food like other restaurants do, which is indeed a good thing.
The presentation of their Gheimeh and their Karafs was superb; my gheimeh came with our country's traditional salad Shirazi and yoghurt. The limoo amani was not crushed or mixed with the stew itself, which is great because some people do not want it mixed into the stew itself. There was also some tahdig, which was pretty great since I had never been to a Persian restaurant in the UK that did put the tahdig in too, although it should've perhaps been a larger piece.
Maryam and the peng waiter were both very helpful and friendly; they happily explained what they had in their menu and what everything was (not knowing at the time that I was also from Iran as well) which is quite nice of them to, since it would help someone trying Persian food for the first time in choosing what they might or might not like.
Portion sizes were pretty good, although I think there should be more rice to go with the khoresht.
My only minor criticism is that there isn't much 'lapeh' (Split peas in English I think?) in the stew/khoresht itself, which I think made it more of a soup than a stew.
Overall, very kind, patient and friendly staff, delicious food, and I will most certainly be coming here again. I...
Read moreI’ve been trying to go to Maryam’s Kitchen for quite some time and always remember when the cafe is closed! Well today was my lucky day. I managed to get a seat inside the cafe, the place was packed (as I understand they are on most Fridays). I ordered a lunchtime rice deal for £14 and a Special blend tea for £3. The rice dish was so delicious. The chicken was moist and melted in your mouth. The rice was nicely spiced and the side accompaniments were a perfect compliment. It felt healthy, but without the loss of deliciousness. I had the radio (the crispy base of the rice) and that was so buttery and crispy. I wanted more! Luckily for me, the portion sizes were huge and I got to pack away my leftovers for another meal. The tea was floral with a slight tang. I highly would recommend visiting this family business. It’s a great asset to Ealing. Maryann also runs her own Supperclub, which you can find details of on her Instagram...
Read moreI only discovered Maryam’s Kitchen in Ealing during the winter of last year, and since then, it’s become my regular spot—especially on Thursdays when my lunch break is a bit longer. The food here is absolutely delicious and truly reminds me of home cooking. It’s the kind of food that makes you pause and appreciate the relatives, who are no longer with you—the ones, who used to treat you to lovingly made meals and shared stories about food.
For me, Maryam’s Kitchen captures that same warmth: food made with care, passion, and soul. The meatballs with raisins and onion, are incredibly filling, and the Red Shakshuka is my go-to favourite. Yet, the standout lunch meal for me is the Ghormeh Sabzi- "a traditional herb stew with kidney beans and tender lamb, served with fragrant saffron rice."
Mind you, it’s not just lunch—it’s a moment of comfort in the middle of the hectic day! Highly...
