We had an enjoyable evening here, but there is definite room for improvement. We arrived on time and stood around for quite a while before someone came over and acknowledged us. It was not just us waiting- there was a little crowd. We let them know we had a reservation but we were informed there was no table available despite this so we had to wait a bit. Eventually we were offered a high table in the corner and we decided to take this because we were really hungry and just wanted to get on with our meal. Someone did come and offer us a proper table downstairs eventually but by this point we'd already settled. Our drinks ordered was taken swiftly. I had a Tejito. I am not the biggest tequila fan but I really enjoyed this. We decided we'd have tapas and placed an order for our first 3 plates. There was an issue with communication between the order being taken and the kitchen actually receiving it because they were getting so many takeout orders, apparently. So we didn't actually get this food until over an hour after we ordered it! Our waitress was very apologetic but by the time it arrived we were absolutely ravenous. The first three plates (queso Frito, two types of tostadas) were completely unremarkable and average. They did not feel worth the wait. We ordered a couple more plates which the waitress was happy to talk us through and advise on. The empanadas were pleasant but the queso fundido is where the restaurant started to pull it back a bit, because this was superb. We ordered dessert as our second set of tapas arrived due to the earlier kitchen issues, which meant it arrived in good time after we finished those savoury plates. We had tres leches cake, which was absolutely phenomenal. I'd go back just to eat the cake, it was that good. Atmosphere was bustling, the place was packed. Weirdly they played Zorba the Greek despite the fact this is a mexican restaurant. After dinner shots of a tequila slushy were a nice touch. Overall the service in terms of speed and organisation was terrible. The lady that actually served us was lovely. The food was ok. The evening was saved by 2 exceptional dishes. Would not rush back, overall probably 6.5/10. It's a shame, because it's quite hard to get Mexican food in a sit down setting like this unless you go to chains

I am mexican living in London and I can attest this is truthly authentic mexican food! This is NOT a place to eat Nachos, Burritos, nor guacamole, you can have all of that elsewhere. Instead, try... mole, tortilla soup, enchiladas verdes, panuchos, all of the most sustantious mains which ingredients are fully imported from Mexico. Read a bit of the regions where the food come from... this restaurant has a bit of many many regions, and obviously the food will be completly different one to the other... ask for suggestions if you are unsure or do not know about try mexican food. Regarding the service, agree sometimes can be a bit messy, but they will do everything to give you a table even if they are fully booked, they will try to make you happy as they can, if they made a mistake, they will try to make you a compensation in the bill (have done that for me several times) and that level of service and attention should be rewarded and priced! Value for money: is probably one of the better relations I find in london regardless of been a mexican place. This is NOT street food nor a "burritos/taqueria" place, this is a restaurant and portions and good, buffet option on weekends are eccelent relation for money to value, this is even a cheaper option than Chelsea which has the same food and is from the same owners. Drinks: Frozen Margarita is awesome, but have you though about Horchata, Jamaica, a good native Tequila o a good native Mezcal in a cocktail? Probably you have not! I invite you to taste new flavours, take the risk to be open to a different experience of food and drinks and come clean with an open perception. Brunch: Weekends from 12hrs -2pm- ilimited food! Every month: different thematics, February: month of tamales Week-days: Menú Love this place and its people! Tip: Even if its not you bday, ask for the sombrero and the song for your friends, is great fun and they will love to be embarassed.

Plenty of choice in the food menu and amazing margaritas. I've tried the ginger margarita, the peach margarita and the watermelon frozen margarita, all great! The food was OK, be prepared to feel full pretty fast as everything was very fatty and cheesy. We got three sharing starters - queso frito (fried cheese), loaded nachos (more cheese), empanadas (filled with cheese) - then I had crepas de cuitlacoche with Mexican mushrooms and corn (amazing!) buried under melted cheese, which came with a side of black beans and tomato sauce rice. We got four different desserts: tres leches, corn cake with ice cream, flan (creme caramel), churros. They were OK-ish, nothing special apart from the churros that were amazingly crispy and came with chocolate sauce and (I think) cinnamon sauce on the side. The coffee was good (Illy), and they only brought sugar after we asked for it. The service was awful when we arrived, as we waited 45 minutes for the waiter to take our order (after we had called them twice). The place was extremely busy and they were absolutely understaffed and I felt bad for them, however they never said "sorry about your wait" or even acknowledged they got our order extremely late (we were still charged the service charge). HOWEVER, the staff was always polite and the food and drinks arrived in no time, I mean in 15 minutes after we ordered we had drinks and starters. The place is decently decorated and very colourful, we couldn't understand why the music didn't follow the same vibe. But at one moment someone ordered a special drink and they put a Mexican hat on their head and played Mexican music, everybody started clapping their hand and it was really entertaining (for two minutes). We paid £70 each which I think is a bit overpriced for what it was.

This was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had in London! The staff's attitude was incredibly arrogant and rude. I've never encountered such poor service at any restaurant.

My friend arrived at the restaurant at 5:00 PM, ordered her food, paid, and waited for me. During this entire time, no one informed her that there was a time limit for dining, nor did anyone mention that they would need the table back by 7:00 PM because of a reservation. I arrived at the restaurant around 6:20 PM, and at 6:40 PM, we were about to order more food when a waiter informed us that the table was reserved for 7:00 PM. I asked what we should do, and he said we could sit at the bar. We were confused because no one had told us this earlier. He then asked, "Did no one tell you?" We said no, and he replied, "Okay, I'll check."

A little while later, another person, who seemed to be the manager, came over. He bluntly stated that they had a reservation at 7:00 PM and we could sit at the bar. There was no apology or any hint of remorse. I explained that no one had informed us about the time limit or the reservation. He simply reiterated that there was a reservation at 7:00 PM. I told him that this was not our concern as we had never been made aware of this, and it was their responsibility to manage the situation. He responded by saying, "I gave you option to sit at the bar." I asked if he thought it was right to ask us to leave in the middle of our meal without prior notice, and he replied, "I wasn't the one serving you earlier, so I don't know, but now we need the table back."

We found the whole situation absurd. Not only had the restaurant failed to inform us, but this man showed no sign of regret. Instead, he spoke to us as if we were obliged to leave immediately. We were furious and made it clear that we shouldn't be held responsible for their failure to communicate. He then said, "Sorry, but you need to leave." This was the first time we heard an apology, but it was in a tone that felt more like an order. I told him that I couldn't accept how unfairly we were being treated. He then said, "You should leave now," and walked away. After that, no one came to serve us or speak to us again, so we had no choice but to leave.

I was shocked by this level of service. In fact, other staff members, including the waiter who took our order, were aware that this was not our fault since we hadn't been informed of the time limit. But the manager's attitude was incredibly rude and unreasonable. Telling us to leave and then walking away was completely unprofessional. I can't believe a manager would handle the situation like this, and we're absolutely outraged by...

The demeanor of the staff not only skirted the line of rudeness but flagrantly crossed into outright disrespect, casting a pall over what should have been a delightful dining outing. The glaring presence of unwashed plates only served to compound our dismay, spotlighting a glaring lack of attention to basic cleanliness and detail. Despite having made a timely booking, we found ourselves languishing in the foyer for a full 15 minutes, a delay that underscored the establishment's glaring indifference to customer satisfaction.

Regrettably, I am left with no choice but to withhold any recommendation for this establishment from my social circle. The behavior exhibited by the staff fell egregiously short of even the most rudimentary standards of courtesy and professionalism. Moreover, the ambiance downstairs left much to be desired, exuding an air of unwelcomeness that permeated the entire dining experience.

While the culinary offerings managed to meet our initial expectations, any semblance of enjoyment was quickly overshadowed by the abysmal level of service. Despite the establishment's commendable ambiance, it's ultimately the quality of service that dictates the overall dining experience. Until there is a marked improvement in both the attitude and efficiency of the staff, I am hesitant to even consider revisiting this establishment, let alone recommending it to others.

Adding insult to injury, we were expected to pay a discretionary service charge despite the glaring deficiencies in service. When we requested the name of the staff member whose behavior had been particularly egregious, we were met with hostility and promptly escorted to the door, which was unceremoniously locked behind us. This callous treatment only served to underscore the establishment's blatant disregard for customer feedback and satisfaction.

In conclusion, my dining experience at this establishment was nothing short of a disappointment. While the food and ambiance showed promise, the abysmal level of service and disrespectful behavior exhibited by the staff left a lasting stain on the overall experience. Unless there are significant improvements in both the service culture and staff demeanor, I cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a pleasant...

Where to start: As a Mexican I always recommend Mestizo with friends and in laws but in this occasion I was very disappointed. My husband and I went for a brunch on Sunday, everything was fine at the beginning, I was told with time that on Sundays they have buffet, we normally go on weekdays but we wanted to try the buffet. They have the explanation of the buffet on the table and it was easy to follow the instructions.

  1. My husband is learning Spanish so he really tried to speak in Spanish with the waiters but they often replied in English, not even try to humor him , but ok , not theirs job.

2)Then we ordered una michelada with clamato “levantamuertos” , I normally pour the beer in the glass and I always leve a little bit of beer behind for later due all the salsas the cocktail has, well the waiter in charge of that table took the beer without asking if I had finished it even if it was obvious that I didn’t , then I told to a nice waitress about what happened so she told the waiter , when the waiter came with the beer he started telling me that the other beer had very little left bla bla bla … so, I was paying for a service and not for a waiter to come and start arguing when it was HIS MISTAKE , in a very bad manner put the beer on the table . I didn’t feel well that day to argue with a person like him , who he think he is to talk like that to clients ?. When I said about the beer I wasn’t even rude , I had to say it because sometimes they think as a clients we don’t pay attention but we do.

  1. Buffet wasn’t as good as when we order from the menu . The only great dish were the birria . Some flavours were missing and not too much variety of food for the price . I wanted to try tamales , one pork for my husband and one raja’s for me but they gave me 2 of pork , I didn’t even argue about that because I just had the bad taste of the waiter. Other thing that I noticed is when ppl arrive they offered them flavour water for the table , nobody even bothered to offer us plain water , I had to stand up to grab a bottle of water for us.

  2. because you have to stand up to take the food and the place is not that big it felt very chaotic when you tried to go back to your table.

The other waiter (I think he is Mexican) was very nice and the waitress very nice...
