I have been visiting mestizo both restaurant and store next door for a while now. Customer service has always been amazing! Until today...I have a £120 voucher from them. The voucher clearly states that I can use it at the restaurant or store. The male employee at the store counter, first had to double check if i could use the voucher (even though it clearly said it was for the restaurant and the store), once he got a confirmation I could, I went ahead to pick the products I wanted to buy. When he saw how many items I had, he insisted that I had to spend the whole vouchers’s amount (£120!) at once (that’s a lot of tamales). At this stage I explained that was not going to happen and that I was told I could use it as store credit. Again he requested advice insisting I had to spend all the money at once. Marysol, Mestizo’s manager, came by and as professional as always, confirmed I could use the voucher over several purchases and asked him to date and sign my shopping from today. He did not ask her any further questions at this stage. She left. I thought all was sorted...but he then started telling me he did not know how to log the sale on the system, he will be short of money and criticised Marysol’s advice saying she solved my problem but not his...I’m the customer so I would assume my problem is the one that needed to be resolved! I explained this was not an issue for me to help him with or even be aware of and ask him to sign my voucher and allow me to go as I have been waiting for a while by now. He refused, instead, he decided to call someone else again to ask what to do next. He was told how to log the purchase, signed my voucher and I was finally allowed to leave! He never apologised or acknowledged the amount of time I had to wait due to his lack of knowledge. I found him extremely unprofessional, he couldn’t care less about my experience as a customer, a customer with a £120 voucher nevertheless. Read moreThis is a nice shop with lots of Mexican produce. However, if you are looking for Mexican oregano as opposed to European oregano grown in Mexico, then do not buy their oregano - the two plants are different. It is labelled as oregano but I asked the lady working there whether it was the one or the other. I was told it was grown in Mexico but she said that she had never tried European oregano. I find this surprising for someone working in a food store in Europe regardless of what nation’s produce it is selling but she also said that she had packed it into the store’s liveried bags so must have known it wasn’t Mexican oregano if she is that involved in the store. For the price of one bag of oregano I would have just been honest rather than get a bad review. There is no logical reason for anyone to buy their oregano when they can get it cheaper elsewhere. Not sure why a specialist Mexican store would import European oregano from Mexico rather than import Mexican oregano...
