Monty's, Nepalese Restaurant, Kingston upon Thames — Restaurant in London

Great food and friendly staff, highly recommended! EDIT: Two years later, food was marvellous as always, prices fair, service ok, but something was missing on our last visit. Monty's are not that friendly as they used to be, service was very fast, feeling hurried, which might be a good thing when you're hungry and waiting for food, not so good if you'd prefer to celebrate your meal, completely wrong when you see your table cleaned and prepared for a next customer immediately after you finished eating... I had an impression staff was simply waiting for us to leave. We were considering one more beer, or maybe coffee, deserts were never great here but anyway we weren't offered any... Instead of ordering, we just paid, left, had a dessert somewhere else. Quite disappointing, it was our Valentine's dinner and we were expecting to be a bit more welcome. Still great food, nice decor, but...

Not great.

Initially, the service seems quite good and popadoms, and a substantial pickle tray are brought out (this is good, none of these ‘thimble’ portions here). They are also very attentive re. Drinks.

However, this is a ‘holding pattern’ and things get worse thereafter.

The curry itself was decidedly average. I had a Lamb Vindaloo (at over £11) had a sum total of three chunks of ‘meat’ in it (and half a potato) swilling round in loads of sauce.

Come on, that is not ok.

The final straw was them quibbling, and making a big deal, over a genuine discrepancy on the billthat was less than the service charge (we would have, obviously sorted this immediately with better service). This was approached like we were trying to shaft them rather than in a good humoured way (given the amount we had spent)

Not cool. Go...

We,four had a birthday party to celebrate.We,were greeted at the four by a smilingember of the staff making us feel so special ie better than family !!!.The decor, facilities and food with the exclusive service was totally awesome. We,will surely come back again.We,just could not believe the indivual and extra special service with normal charges that we were happy to pay without question. MONTY'S was examplery,truly.The, staff and the manager were ever so so helpful. The,car parking' slot' was a huge help,too.We, wish other restaurants could follow in their footsteps,too.Every, wish we asked was fulfilled ,fully with a smile.A,very big THANK YOU to the staff and the management for their friendly,clean and ever so lovely experience we enjoyed.We,shall...
