I’m not sure why anyone wouldn’t want to hang out in Monty’s Bar in the ultra cool Brick Lane, the heart of London’s curry capital. This bar oozes of trendyness if that’s actually a word.
As you enter this living breathing piece of art you immediately feel calm and relaxed. It’s homely but you defiantly know that you are out in a very special place surrounded by the busyness of Brick Lane on the outside.
The walls are covered with amazing art from local to international artist alike. You can sit there with the drink of your choice from the fully stocked bar and just look around not only at the art but the clients that come to chill and have a great night out. When you first walk in it’s a bit deceiving but it’s like the Tardis it’s just gets bigger and bigger, there is also a downstairs space. The seating is uncoordinated which give the place that unique feel. Even on the ceiling you find creativity, parts of the ceiling has old vinyl records stuck to it adding to that feel that you are in a urban space, from the outside you are attracted by the large pieces of art on the walls and it kind of draws you in. I think if you like art and alcohol then you will...
Read moreMaybe it's because it was a busy Friday night but there was a miscommunication with the bar staff. We ordered three pints and a sparkling water and were still deciding on a second round, we were served our round but got called back to the bar and one of the bartenders told us we took someone else's drinks (these were the three pints and water I ordered and were served out to me with one of the bartenders asking me if selzer instead of sparkling water was okay). This was confusing since I already paid and was served, what I assumed because it was served out to me, my ordered round of drinks. There was some back and forth on the confusion because the second round's bartender insisted that I'd ordered twice while I was under the assumption that I had ordered and then, when I was asked by the other bartender if I had ordered, confirmed my order. The second bartender made me feel like I was being incredibely unreasonable and I probaly came off as annoying but in the moment it made me feel like I had commited the gravest of offences. Bar's vibes are nice so I hope it was just a miscommunication...
Read moreVisited this bar earlier during the day around 5pm with no security present. We returned 9:45pm, the security guard present in the video was there. He asked us for ID, which we provided and he refused us entry, without even checking it! There was no reason for him to refuse us entry. We’d been in the same bar earlier and had no problem being customers at the bar then. No explanation except he “owned the bar and didn’t want us to enter”. Upsetting as we visit this bar quite often esp during happy hour, but have never met him before so it’s sad to be refused for no reason. We were questioning his refusal in the video as it came as a surprise.
Change the security as he is unpleasant and bringing the reputation of...
