I have visited this place twice. First time was when they were operating under the railway and the second time at their official shop.
I got the Doner and chips meal on both occasion and I must say, it was horrendous. Cheap Doner hidden away with the marination with a tub load of sauce. This place is a health hazard. The chips were extremely greasy but were tasty! The Doner sauce itself was decent however, the Doner itself is terrible. The Doner is very gritty and frankly quite nasty. It is frozen Doner which is cooked and drenched in sauce. The meal itself gets very overwhelming and sickening after a few bites. In my opinion, it comes across as a glorified PFC with creamy sauce and doesn’t justify the price! However it is unique and you probably won’t find anything like this. There was a limited drink menu as well.
I tried the Korean chicken wings and I must say they were impressive! I like them!
The service is good, the food took slightly long to bring out however friendly service overall.
I can see a few reviews regarding the cash/card issue and unfortunately I had to pay by cash. This is an annoying especially as they are inconsistent with how they receive payment.
The atmosphere itself is ok, not the biggest fan of the dark feel of the place. It felt small and claustrophobic.
Overall, in my opinion I will definitely not come back here and won’t recommend it. I wish people took care more of their health rather consume unhealthy food like this but each to their own.
Phat for life is a popular place for many so they are clearly doing something right!
4/10 sadly...
Read moreI've been ordering from this place since they first opened in their original location. The brothers are friendly and there isn't anywhere else that quite does the same thing. However, I have 2 major gripes that means I'm unlikely to go back any more.
They STILL do not take card payments even after this many years of being in business - we are living in a time where many businesses don't accept cash full stop, and even street vendors and BUSKERS have card machines. So whenever I order, I have to go out of my way to get cash out. If this was a regular PFC with cheap pricing, I'd 100% be more understanding. I was placing an order last night and they confirmed it was STILL cash only, they also said the nearest cash point was not working but I could get "cashback" from a nearby Tesco. I ended up just cancelling my order - this was a bit of a last straw situation. I don't care for what reason they don't take cards, but we all know why certain businesses don't.
In their old location, they used to have GREAT (almost airtight) packaging which kept the food at a really good temperature - I live about 30 mins away and the food would still be very warm/hot. Since moving to this new location, they have switched to really poor paper/cardboard type packaging (assume to save costs) which means if you're not local, you end up with cold food. Last time I asked if they could foil up the package but all they did was add a few staples -...
DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT FROZEN DONNER & SWEET TASTING WINGS 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Went to this place today. Really disappointed with a couple things.
Don’t bother buying their wings. They advertise 5 different flavours but use the same sauce on all the wings. The masala wings tasted exactly like barbecue and the guy at the counter tried to convince us that was masala flavour. I don’t know what kind of masala his had in his life but it is definitely not supposed to be sweet and taste like barbecue. I could’ve ordered the barbecue flavour and saved myself the stress. He then offered to refund us for 4/5 of the wings since we bit into 1 of the wings? How else were we supposed know what the flavour was if we didn’t try it? LOL. The donner was cold and not nice at all. Tasted like someone got plain dinner from the Turkish shops and slapped on mayo and a tiny bit of naga sauce. No effort at all. The donner tasted like it was taken out from a freezer and reheated. Rubbery texture and sickening taste.
Advice for the resturaunt:
Next time a customer complains, don’t try to prove to the customer they are wrong and delusional. Instead, take some initiative to make it right, you could have offered to replace with something else since it didn’t meet their satisfaction or offer to refund on the spot. Rather than dragging out the conversation and ruining someone’s evening who chose to spend money on your...
