I have visited this place twice. First time was when they were operating under the railway and the second time at their official shop.

I got the Doner and chips meal on both occasion and I must say, it was horrendous. Cheap Doner hidden away with the marination with a tub load of sauce. This place is a health hazard. The chips were extremely greasy but were tasty! The Doner sauce itself was decent however, the Doner itself is terrible. The Doner is very gritty and frankly quite nasty. It is frozen Doner which is cooked and drenched in sauce. The meal itself gets very overwhelming and sickening after a few bites. In my opinion, it comes across as a glorified PFC with creamy sauce and doesn’t justify the price! However it is unique and you probably won’t find anything like this. There was a limited drink menu as well.

I tried the Korean chicken wings and I must say they were impressive! I like them!

The service is good, the food took slightly long to bring out however friendly service overall.

I can see a few reviews regarding the cash/card issue and unfortunately I had to pay by cash. This is an annoying especially as they are inconsistent with how they receive payment.

The atmosphere itself is ok, not the biggest fan of the dark feel of the place. It felt small and claustrophobic.

Overall, in my opinion I will definitely not come back here and won’t recommend it. I wish people took care more of their health rather consume unhealthy food like this but each to their own.

Phat for life is a popular place for many so they are clearly doing something right!

4/10 sadly...

I've been ordering from this place since they first opened in their original location. The brothers are friendly and there isn't anywhere else that quite does the same thing. However, I have 2 major gripes that means I'm unlikely to go back any more.

  1. They STILL do not take card payments even after this many years of being in business - we are living in a time where many businesses don't accept cash full stop, and even street vendors and BUSKERS have card machines. So whenever I order, I have to go out of my way to get cash out. If this was a regular PFC with cheap pricing, I'd 100% be more understanding. I was placing an order last night and they confirmed it was STILL cash only, they also said the nearest cash point was not working but I could get "cashback" from a nearby Tesco. I ended up just cancelling my order - this was a bit of a last straw situation. I don't care for what reason they don't take cards, but we all know why certain businesses don't.

  2. In their old location, they used to have GREAT (almost airtight) packaging which kept the food at a really good temperature - I live about 30 mins away and the food would still be very warm/hot. Since moving to this new location, they have switched to really poor paper/cardboard type packaging (assume to save costs) which means if you're not local, you end up with cold food. Last time I asked if they could foil up the package but all they did was add a few staples -...

DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT FROZEN DONNER & SWEET TASTING WINGS 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎 Went to this place today. Really disappointed with a couple things.

Don’t bother buying their wings. They advertise 5 different flavours but use the same sauce on all the wings. The masala wings tasted exactly like barbecue and the guy at the counter tried to convince us that was masala flavour. I don’t know what kind of masala his had in his life but it is definitely not supposed to be sweet and taste like barbecue. I could’ve ordered the barbecue flavour and saved myself the stress. He then offered to refund us for 4/5 of the wings since we bit into 1 of the wings? How else were we supposed know what the flavour was if we didn’t try it? LOL. The donner was cold and not nice at all. Tasted like someone got plain dinner from the Turkish shops and slapped on mayo and a tiny bit of naga sauce. No effort at all. The donner tasted like it was taken out from a freezer and reheated. Rubbery texture and sickening taste.

Advice for the resturaunt:

Next time a customer complains, don’t try to prove to the customer they are wrong and delusional. Instead, take some initiative to make it right, you could have offered to replace with something else since it didn’t meet their satisfaction or offer to refund on the spot. Rather than dragging out the conversation and ruining someone’s evening who chose to spend money on your...

Me and my friends arrived at the restaurant at 8:20PM, we bought the £90 platter with 4 smash burgers, the service was really good and the food was delivered quickly, there are good facilities to wash your hands and the downstairs area is nice to sit with family or friends. When we got our food we dug in immediately, the doner had such a unique and delicious taste and the smash burgers were very saucy and melted in my mouth. The chips were seasoned and very flavourful and we all enjoyed it very much, would recommended getting the £90 platter for a family (of 6) as we could not all finish it and had to take some home. 9.8/10. Update 22/02/25: We went here for my friends birthday and got the Phat Taal platter for £160 total (8 People, so £20~ each). Yet again, PhatForLife does not disappoint, the food was flavourful and high quality yet again, my favourite was the Cheesesteak Burger and the Jaal King Prawns, they were so rich and delicious. I would say for the amount of food given, this platter is great for the price. I would reccomend coming here with a lot of friends or big eaters to finish the bigger platters. But overall the atmosphere was similar to when we first visited and very good. 9.9/10

Visited Phat For Life over the weekend with a group of friends. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff, who were upfront about how busy it was and advised us to place our order and wait outside until a table became available. We decided to go for the £90 Jaal Platter, which looked impressive on the menu. After waiting around 20 minutes, we were invited inside to wait for our food. The restaurant has additional seating downstairs — it’s quite compact, and the noise level is quite high, so just something to be aware of if you prefer a quieter dining experience. When the platter arrived, it was definitely generous in size and visually appealing. The food itself was decent for the price, though I’d recommend ordering individual meals if you’re not a big eater. The portions are huge, and it would be a shame to waste food. Everything served is halal, and overall, it was an okay experience — friendly service, a lively atmosphere, and good value if you’re sharing as a group.

I’ve been hearing about this place for a while now, but I never had the chance to try it until my first visit. The seating is downstairs and quite small, but it’s cosy. We were lucky to get a table quickly. We ordered the Haji Platter, which was more than enough for us four girls. It came with three smash burgers, kebab, wings, chicken strips, fried prawns, chips with brisket, and coleslaw. There were also three drinks included. The best part of the platter was the brisket and smash burgers! The burgers were so juicy and melted in your mouth. The brisket was full of flavour and soft. I usually don’t like lamb doner, but this one was nice and spicy. The chicken strips were fried with a light batter and covered in a creamy sauce. The service was great and the staff was really attentive. We did have a bit of a problem with the lights flickering, but the staff quickly turned them off and gave us lamps instead. Overall, we really enjoyed the food here and will definitely come back again.
