It's hard not to like Well & Bucket, unless you came expecting oysters (not an unusual concept given that it's billing itself as an oyster bar) and then were told at 7pm on a Saturday that they were completely out.
There are a number of tables and booths surrounding the central bar and even on a Saturday the majority of them were open for walk ins. There are also a number of bar stools around the bar - now this is something I have mixed feelings about as it makes it uber hard to get to the bar to order a drink, but overall I think it's probably good for the extra seating options.
W&B also has a large number of microbrewed beers (a good number on tap as well) which makes it the second signature item. And these are the good microbrews which embody the time and care the brewer has put into each recipe, and not the generic microbrew which one would be hard pressed to differentiate from Bud Lite. The Flying Gonzo Dog was dark, smokey, and just a tad bitter which made it perfect for a start to the night. Rob's dark porter was similarly dry and delicious while Katie's Milk Stout went a different direction and would personally suit me more as a dessert. That said, it was very tasty and almost like a chocolate milkshake in beer form.
Food wise, you're looking at a number of fried things, a selection of sliders, and a few other bits and bobs. We tried all the sliders except the veggie one and while they were all okay, the best actually turned out to be the cheeseburger with melt in your mouth meat and a bespoke ketchup that had a hint of spice.
The décor is definitely interesting with a slight Death theme without being morbid. The sound level tends to be moderate so you can still hear your mates without shouting yourself hoarse. And prices are reasonable with beers ranging from £3.50-6 depending on the size and type and cocktails being around £8-10. However, if you want cocktails, go downstairs to 5cc, the new cocktail lounge - but that's...
Read moreFirst and last time in this place. The pub is actually really cool and we were planning to come back as we work around the area and we really enjoyed the food and beers but definetely not after the way the manager treated us. The place was almost empty in a Monday evening apart from us (we were a group of 12 people). One member of our group was asked to go outside as he was rolling a joint. Totally normal, of course, so he did. But after that the whole group was judged by that as we were some kind of criminals. Three of us went outside with him to give him some company and when we came back they have thrown our beers away and the table was empty. When we went to the bar to ask what happened, they said that we had left and there was nothing on the table apart from empty glasses. We should have let the bartender know that we were coming back EVEN when more than half of the group was still in the pub. Luckily for us, we didnt have any bags on the table (as they would have thrown them to the bin, they said) and we had a tab openned, so we still had to pay. They had to discount the last two beers, as the woman was doing an huge favor to us... The manager was incredibly rude with us treating us like we were the most disgusting people of the planet telling the guy who was with her not to talk with us anymore because they dont treat with stoned people. Maybe the beer you threw away was my third 9% beer and I was kind of drunk and not stoned? Maybe we were upset for a treatment we didnt deserve? We work in hospitality as well and as far as I know you dont treat customers like that NEVER even when they have friends smoking marihuana. Sorry but I would recommend this...

Shoreditch High Street station is a five minute walk away. . This pub started life in 1818 and meandered through history until 1989 when it closed. It then went through a period as a restaurant and also a leather wholesaler’s. Luckily In 2013 it somehow was reinstated as a pub, there is hope for is all. . At the centre of the pub is a true 100% island bar which has a beautiful copper surface. On the walls are wonderful glazed Victorian tiles, some are missing which may have happened when this pub was dormant but the majority have managed to survive. There are also some large traditional mirrors which give this place a contemporary Victorian feel. . The beer choice was full of local London brews but no cask was available, I had a pint of Neck Oil which was good but a wee bit pricey. There is plenty of grub on offer, fish & chips costs £17. If you fancy a Long Island Ice Tea or a Negroni, why not try out the basement cocktail bar. . I was on a Saturday crawl with my brother and we arrived here around midday. There were a few other customers in and the atmosphere was one of calm. The service was good, we were served by a nice fella who was busy prepping the pub for the day’s trade. . The @wellandbucket thankfully was saved over 25 years ago when too many of its neighbours were lost forever. I can’t imagine what would of happened to the tiles had this pub not survived. Today it thrives, definitely worth a visit this one, come show this pub some love. . ℹ️ Info correct on...
