We were in the area and looking online for a place to eat, and Senor Ceviche intrigued us. Needless to say, they were busy but managed to sit us anyway even without a reservation (do make a reservation especially during weekends!). The waiter was very attentive and friendly! He explained to us the menu and shared some recommendations along with answering any doubts or questions we had. He also checked in with us several times to make sure we were served and were happy with the food.
Overall, the food was amazing, just fresh, interesting and flavourful. There was a good combination of flavours and textures with great execution and detail to each component on the dishes. To me, the food was worth the price. The BBQ Jerusalem Artichoke was my favourite, it had crunch, zing, freshness… it really whet my appetite. The Senor ceviche and Skate wing were done well too. The Peruvian Pot Stickers wasn’t my favourite, I wasn’t a fan of the pot sticker skins which was quite doughy to me.
We were there for dinner, and the place was quite dimly lit with candles on every table. As the restaurant isn’t big, the tables were arranged quite close together too. Still, we enjoyed ourselves with the casual and fun vibe. I have no idea whether the food is authentic Peruvian food… regardless, it was different, delicious and all well executed. Top that with great service, I will be a...
Read moreJust brilliant, buenísimo! We just walked in without reservation for lunch and couldn’t have had a better experience. We picked it over the rest in Kingly Court because of the vibe you could feel passing by. Nice cozy decor and good music. Everyone having a great time. The menu looked interesting.
They seated us quickly and took us through the menu, bringing over some complimentary snacks (Peruvian corn) and water. We ordered and the food was served surprisingly quickly; entrants first, mains right after. We went for two entrants (croquetas and chicharrones), a ceviche (salmon) and a main (marinated chicken) with a side (frijoles). All to share.
Everything was so tasty. I would particularly recommend the chicharrones (pork belly), the ceviche and the chicken. The ceviche is not what we were used to, it’s a more minimalistic version of what we had usually tried but I felt of superior quality. The contrast of its freshness after chicharrones was enjoyable. The chicken reminded me of that one from Dishoom. Super tender, crispy outside. The chicharrones are so good that make you want to close your eyes.
We had wine, picked a Chardonnay but could have had almost any. Short but very good selection. Next time we’ll try the pisco sour and maybe have some dessert, we just couldn’t eat any more!
The prices are very reasonable, great value for money and the service, table and kitchen, couldn’t have been any better.
5/5 - 100% recommended,...
Read moreIt’s never easy to leave a bad review for any business; however, in this instance we felt the need to share our experience in the hopes that it helps someone including the establishment.
A few days ago, we visited to try the tasting menu for £39 pp. As each dish arrived, we were left with feeling like it was cafeteria food both in taste and quality.
Flavors didn’t stand out, and it just felt like nothing was fresh and there was no culinary appeal in it considering the high price and cultural cuisine.
The desert was chocolate mouse and it was unbearably sweet and again tasted like It was from packaged food/not freshly made.
As for the service, we were charged 12.5% and throughout the night, no one checked in to see if we needed anything or if everything was ok. It didn’t feel like table service at all.
There’s a huge lack of Peruvian cultural feel which is ultimately what had us interested in the first place.
we walked away feeling like we wasted large sums of money for a less than average experience. For those who are on a budget looking to splurge, please think twice…
I also now noticed that the response to all negative comments is “I’m sorry, please email us”. This shows lack of accountability to address comments in front of other clients and rather requesting an email from already disappointed client who won’t even bother discussing things further as what we needed to say...
