I dont normally write long reviews. But here we go..... I went in there today first time. After checking the reviews i thought why not give it a go. Massively disappointed iam afraid. I ordered king prawn fried rice. It was quite obvious they mixed up someones leftover food and gave it to me. I should know because i eat chinese / oriental food every week. The rice was very old and looked stale. The taste was awful , tasted of food thats a few days old and smelt bad. Almost mouldy taste and smell. Sort of rotten. the king prawn looked burnt and was hard, again not fresh at all. It did look like they mixed up leftovers that was a few days old and gave it to me. I didnt have any breakfast so was looking forward to this meal. I tried hard to eat it, but in the end gave up, as i eventually felt unwell eating it. I also ordered tofu, but after a few bites i gave up. I do not know how they can serve such bad food. Considering they have good reviews. Amd i cannot see how this place can have such good reviews. !! Its rubbish.
I think they saw me as a single asian guy, and they felt it was ok to give me thier leftover dishes, it doesnt matter what i eat, i wont know the difference . What does that say about these people and thier character ? Iam not worthy enough ? Not a human being then ? It doesnt matter who the customer is, you cannot serve them bad food like this, they pay for the food, its not free. Customers exoect good quality food. The waiter wasnt very polite either. Not too bothered about anything. Before i left i told the waiter about the food , he tried to justify it by saying oh cook it like this like that etc. When i told him i eat chinese food every week and i know the difference and i can speak a bit of mandarin (chinese), he went quite and stopped talking. What a waste of money.
I can tell for sure i will NEVER go back to this restaurant again. Disgustlingly bad food they gave me. Massively dissapointed as i went in there because of the good reviews. As iam writing this i can feel a bit of stomach discomfort coming on. I hope they havent given me food poisoning.
It seems to me this is the sort of place where they will give you bad food depending on how you look and whether you are worthy or not.
This is the worst oriental food i have had in about 2 years. And i eat oriental food every week. They do not deserve the good...
Read moreI had the mapo tofu with pork (my first time trying the dish), egg fried rice, and the prawn dumplings. The mapo tofu was just great. I was a bit concerned because I like spice but I don’t handle it as well as I’d like. Sinus-clearing spicy but nothing to blow your head off. Luckily I came for a late lunch at about 3:30 so there was no one else there to hear me sniffling quietly in the corner. The tofu was silky soft and the egg fried rice was light, not at all greasy. The dumplings (steamed, har gow style) were good too. The pieces of prawn were juicy and bouncy and it was nice to taste the ginger in them. Served with a spicy sauce. The portions were generous - I had more than enough to eat plus leftovers, and I have quite a big appetite.
The service was really good too, very quick and friendly, and even though I arrived at a weird time just before staff lunch, I didn’t feel rushed at all. My food arrived fast, so this place would be a perfect stop for someone in transit going through Fulham Broadway. Very reasonably priced and service was included.
I will definitely be going back or ordering takeaway soon! I’m excited to try the homemade cumin lamb biang biang noodles and the smacked cucumbers, which are two of my favourite dishes, as well as the wonton in chilli oil. The menu is extensive and varied. It’s so great to get a new Chinese place opening up in Fulham, and especially a Sichuan place, as I don’t know any others...
Read moreCame here with a few friends looking for something spicy. Sichuan Popo delivered on all fronts!
Came on a Friday evening having booked. The restaurant itself wasn't too busy but they seemed to be absolutely powering through the takeaway orders! Even with the two staff running the front of house affairs we were well looked after.
We initially ordered our drinks to give us extra time to digest the menu. For food we ordered many of the dishes tagged as being 'highly recommended', amongst which was the mapo tofu, the lamb and cumin noodles, the beef biang biang noodles, the salt and pepper squid, some wontons, dumplings and one of the street food 'burgers'. None of these disappointed, they were perfectly spiced with an explosion of flavour. We were thoroughly satisfied with the recommended dishes.
All in all for some beers, wine and the dishes we ordered it came to £35 per head which was very reasonable for the quantity (yes the portion sizes were generous) and the quality.
If you want to try something different to the usual Anglicised Cantonese Chinese takeaway, I would highly recommend giving this place ago! Even if it's...
