Very disappointing visit. My partner and I were looking for some food and cocktails and, having visited many slug and lettuce’s across London, thought that Hanover street would be a good place to go. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a bar member who rudely asked if we had made a booking and then informed us that due to reservations we could only sit upstairs. We saw multiple people coming in and sitting down at unreserved tables, so we found this strange. We went upstairs only to find that there weren’t any lights on at all. As another small group had been sent upstairs, the bar member then appeared and turned the lights on. We ordered via the app and twenty minutes later our food arrived, cold. We had not received our drinks and when informed the server of this (who brought our food) she proceeded to do nothing about it. Ten minutes later, with no sign of our drinks, I ended up having to go downstairs to the bar and ask for them, as well as handing back the cold garlic bread. There was no apology for this, only ‘it isn’t our fault because your ticket didn’t come down to us’ yet I watched them making orders for everyone else through the online system no problem… Another 20 minutes go by without any sign of the garlic bread, so I go down to the bar again. Five members of staff at the bar, I was the only customer standing waiting. I was ignored for almost ten minutes, not one member of staff looked at me. Only when another customer appeared did they try to serve and luckily the man pointed to me saying I was first. I notified them that we still had not had our garlic bread. At this point, a member of staff went off to the kitchens to find it and brought it over. The garlic bread was clearly frozen (as it was still hard and frozen in the middle) and had not properly been reheated. We gave up at this point, choosing to go elsewhere. This is the worst service I have ever received in a London bar. Avoid and go anywhere else, even the weatherspoons in this area would be a better option.

We reserved a table for two at 5pm on a Saturday, really glad we did and strongly recommend the same for others visiting. Due to how extremely busy it was, naturally it was very loud, so take this in consideration if you have a hearing impairment/disability. The tables are quite close together and it can feel like you are on top of each other. We used the app to order our drinks, unfortunately we had to visit the bar to enquire where our drinks were after waiting 30 minutes. I am not sure if the bar is short staffed for various of issues or simply under staffed…. We ordered Christmas special cocktails which were not included in the special offer of buy one, get one free. Therefore we would expect the standard of the cocktail to appear what it is advertised in the menu, but this was not the case. We had to complain about our drinks, and thankfully they were remade for us. A shame they weren’t made how they should have been initially to have saved the inconvenience here.. We also ordered food but not all meals were available and again it was some time to wait for food. Food itself, was ok, nothing special. The toilets and stair case leading down to the toilets were really untidy and smelly. There was toilet roll scattered on the stairs and the toilets weren’t pleasant to use. Appreciate it is a high street pub as such but having extra staff and just other basic upkeep would make a lot of difference…. Some simple basic tweaks of requirements needed here for general overall improvement.

This is not the experience we expected. To begin, our table was not ready when we arrived, despite it being reserved several days prior. Service was incredibly slow (waiting 30 minutes + for food) and staff did not seem confident in their roles. To top it off, one of our party ordered the "cheesy nachos" which supposedly was topped with fresh guacamole and a vegetarian bean chilli. In reality, the tortilla chips had barely any cheese on them at all and had been topped with BAKED BEANS straight from the can. Handling of dietary requirements and allergens was also poor, as one of the party ordered a dish from the "nut free" menu, only to be told the sauce could not be included as it contained almonds. Overall very disappointing and not what you expect from a national chain.

When we arrived the staff weren’t friendly. We ordered drinks in the app than go to the bar each paying separately on the app. The drinks took 25 minutes the first time round to come to the table. It was 2 for 1 on cocktails. The 2nd time round we out ordered more drinks a member of staff had a go at on if we wanted the offer or not the 2 for 1 cocktails as we didn’t add the 2nd drink to the basket as when we got to the checkout the offer wasn’t coming off at the end. We didn’t want to be charged for 2 drinks when the offer was still valid. The was no need for the attitude of the member of staff to have a go at us in that manner. Finally when I got my 2nd round of drinks the peach emoji in the middle wasn’t added to the drink.

Used to come here quite often, in the last months the quality and the service dropped. The food was amazing, now you get old nachos with not even guacamole, but avocado in pieces (not considering the taste of it). Drinks are just ok, they used to be better. Service is super slow, and they're not busy anymore, this place used to be packed, so I don't really understand why. I don't know if it's only this branch, or the quality of this chain is going down. I will try another one to see how it is. I don't recommend it anymore.

I visited S&L today and had an outstanding experience. I ordered the Zombie cocktail, and Iggy, the bartender, made it perfectly. The drink was a fantastic blend of tropical flavors with just the right amount of kick. What really stood out was Iggy's service—he was attentive, friendly, and truly made the night special. If you're heading to S&L, definitely try the Zombie. Iggy's expertise and the overall vibe make it a must-visit spot!
