On 17 January 2025 I travelled to Oxford Circus station. Whilst exiting barriers I was tailgated by a group of young men. I was 6 months pregnant at this time and wearing a “Baby on Board” TfL badge. I stopped after I exited the barriers and the group of boys rammed into me as they attempted to push through right behind me. After asking them several times to move back they eventually went back and as I walked on they pushed through the barrier anyway. Three members of TfL staff (three men, aged approx. 50-60 wearing high-vis TfL jackets) were standing nearby and watched this entire incident. I approached them and asked “will you be doing anything about them?” whilst pointing to the group of men as they exited the station. One of the TfL staff said “they have no money”. I replied “ok, so what will you be doing about them?”. A second member of staff from the group then said to me “what do you want us to do about it?”. I then left the station. I later submitted a complaint to TfL regarding the quite frankly diabolical customer service from these three members of staff - all I was told is that the complaint was forwarded to the customer service team at Oxford Circus station. No apology was issued and I was not given any indication of any consequences for these three members of staff. I totally understand that staff are at risk of attack when approaching fare dodgers, but I was later informed by TfL customer service that TfL staff actually have a way of reporting incidents like this at the station, and instead of directing me on how to do this I was literally told “what do you want us to do about it?”. I think this just says it all about the attitude of TfL in general which is an absolute joke considering how much we all spend using it. Since this incident I haven’t used TfL again because I’ve been so uncomfortable and worried, especially as this incident happened whilst I...
Read moreI honestly could not think of a better example of Steam Punk meets Heath Robinson, a warren of tunnels, platforms, noise and people. I never seem to find the right exit either, and I have been coming here for more than sixty years when I was a little child back in the fifties, I am seventy-one now, and still go in to Town as we say in London. When I am clothes shopping, it's usually Oxford street. Yes, it is old-fashioned, a long street with loads of shops. But I cannot see what is not to like. It always had its messy side, and rates are too high. But nothing stays the same, and it will be back, I hope, not necessarily Bigger Bolder Better etc. But for me a lovely place to go, you can always go into Soho if you want, Regent Street or the super posh New Bond Street and gawp, that's what I do. It is the heart of London, and for all its faults it continues to thump, and long may it continue. Please don't pedestrianise it, Herr Khan, you are only dropping the problem on others. I live on one of those roads designated a thoroughfare, so apparently it is OK to run me over, just not the posh people, that live in the 'Environmental Area'. If you come to London, Oxford street is a must, and its Portal is the wonderfully mad Oxford Circus. The picture I did in photoshop a couple of nights ago, and I liked it, so I am putting it up with my review, for some reason I like to make my portraits bald at the moment, I hope you...
