Really dissapointing. Had high expectations with the array of steak varieties and the fact that this is their speciality. We was seated on a tiny table. Was not big enough for 2 people and we are not huge before you ask. Others also seated in small cramped spaces. Mens toilets was cramped.only 2 people coukd fit in there at any time. The service was Okay but I didn't feel the waitress knew much about the steaks as her answers on marbling, fat content and cuts did not convince me she knew much about the steaks available on the menu. I am also a little worried about the possibility of being served non halal food as it could get mixed up. I had the empinadas. One was minced beef and the other had chorizo. I left them aside as I was doubtful even after being assured that it was halal chorizo by the manager who checked with the chef. I asked to move to a bigger table as the table couldn't fit much and our salt and pepper grinders were rested on a dividing wall ledge. I ordered the wagyu sirloin marble 8/9 priced at £65. Was expecting something amazing but it was very dissapointing. It was not as tender as I had expected and not a melt in your mouth steak. Pretty chewy but I did ask for it well done to be fair. Perhaps the wrong cut and should have gone for something else. I picked it because it was the most expensive on the menu so thought the quality would reflect this. It was okay but for that price was expecting wow. The lamb had not best rested and asked for them to also be well done. There was a pool of blood in the plate and some of them actually raw. I don't mind medium or some pink but these were actually raw(should have taken a pic). Also the lamb stunk. It was quite off putting. All in all not a great experience. So many good reviews, the place was busy and my friends also say its a place that does decent steak so just for that reason I will try again one day but I'm not in any rush. Really really dissapointed with the whole experience...
Read moreREMEMBER: they do £10 discount for each person, on Monday and Tuesday. Be careful not to get swindled out of it! You MUST bring the coupon with you, it's found on their website.
This used to be one of our favourite restaurants, good atmosphere, amazing food, reasonable prices for a steakhouse. Unfortunately, our latest trip to this place left a rather disappointing feeling. They had advertised that on Monday and on Tuesday there would be a 10£ discount per person, so we though it's a good day to take the Wagyu tomahawk and split it into two (still pricy, but made sense). We were greeted, for the first time, by an incredibly cold waitress (not the incredibly nice and warm one we are used to). After eating, when we asked for the bill, there was no reference of the discount, so when I asked about the offer, the lady said, and I quote, "You have to have the coupon, dear", in a very condescending tone. This was supposed to be easy enough to do, since it was on the website, but bear in mind: the offer was displayed in front of the restaurant on their own billboard this weekend! And they took it out on the exact days that they were advertising for! I had to enter their website to find the pdf, which had literally no qr no barcode no nothing! It was just "hey, 10£ off per person". The worst part was that, it took me 5 minutes to find data/internet to download it, since they wouldn't give the discount without seeing it...
So the entire thing felt incredibly disingenuine. We got the discount, but now I regret to say I didn't ask them to remove the service charge after the horrible treatment. I'm terribly disappointed in a restaurant that I used to have such appreciation for. But what can we say, cash grabbing can get the...
Read moreFirstly want to say one of my favourite meals I've had. I couldn't split what was my favourite part of the meal because everything just tasted amazing.
Oysters come in pairs of two. Very refreshing and slides off the shell perfectly. It was displayed and presented beautifully.
Calamari was light and fluffy and never felt chewy. The portion size was good.
Finally the tuna tartare which suprised me. I was thrown away with how flavourful the bite was and again presented very well.
The main reason we came here was to try the wagyu steak and oh boy it hit the top of my list of steaks I've had. The way the steak was cooked perfectly, cut perfectly and tasted was exceptional. We got this with the truffle bearnaise which I will highly recommend. Just based off the steak alone I would come here again.
Finally we move on to desert and they did it again. Chocolate fondant was perfect. The balance with the outer layer chocolate woth the melted chocolate inside accompanied by the ice cream made it a beautiful end to what was an amazing meal.
The restaurant is situated right next to a station so travelling here by train was simple, the area surrounding the restaurant was really nice and you can go enjoy a little walk around the area.
Pricing a bit high but we did order the pricier cuts. With price came quality so for me it was worthwhile.
Waiters are very attentive and made sure to check up throughout if we needed anything. Very caring and made the experience great.
For me I will highly recommend this place to anyone, what's even better is they provide a halal menu which just shows the care towards halal eaters. Loved this place and thanks steak on the green for the...
