The Shanakee — Restaurant in London

A proper boozer.

By far the cheapest pub within 200 metres of Ealing Broadway station. No food (bar snacks only, crisps etc). Coffee is instant coffee. Tea is builder's tea bags with full fat milk. The atmosphere is great though (most of the time). I drink here regularly and would recommend it if you want the opportunity to have a decent pint and especially if you are happy strike up a conversation with someone. It is the kind of pub where people are free to talk to each other (if they are thus inclined).

It is an Irish bar but not in a plastic way. Unlike some Irish bars it isn't cliquey.

Reputed to have the second best Guinness in Ealing (The best being said to be O'brien's in west Ealing).

Post covid, a pint of Kronenbourg is £4.60. In my opinion, it is still the most welcoming pub in Ealing though. A similar 5% pint will be just shy of £6 in other local bars.

My phone died on the central line home from a day out, saw this place from across the street so figured I'd charge my phone and have a quick nightcap. Was met with a very pleasant vibe. Great cover musician and a lot of people having a good time. Had half a pint then was approached by a friendly individual who offered me another beer. What I liked about this place was when I'd ordered a Guiness , the guy behind the bar told me to grab a seat and he'd bring it to the table when when it's poured rather than me standing at the bar for 2 mins.

Friendly staff. Lively atmosphere and plenty of characters inside. It won't be to everyone's liking but if you want somewhere unpretentious and want a well poured Guiness for under a fiver this is a great spot across the road from...
