I had a very peculiar experience. I never leave reviews often but I felt inclined to do so today.

So I’m a huge pancake fan / foodie, whatever you want to call it in terms of -eating- them. I’m not an expert with cooking them or knowing 100% what they look like etc, I just have trust that they’d be the same type that I’m used to based on their name on menu’s.

I have been looking forward to having the pancakes here for a very long time. They look amazing and people on the reviews rave about them. I admit, I didn’t look at reviews super thoroughly, only skimmed, but all I saw was the visual look of them, pancake looking (kind of, but still very tasty looking) and also on the website, them listed as -pancakes-.

Finally the day arrived where I was coming to eat them.

When I asked for 3, as I normally eat 3 pancakes when I’m out and that’s usually a good amount or not enough, depending how they’re made.. the waitress stopped and said.. “are you sure? They’re really big!”

And I was confused because, yes I’m sure.. I eat 3 pancakes normally.

Then after that I had a few other staff make comments saying things like .. “there’s a hospital up the road if you need it”, and just making comments about the amount I was getting which made me really uncomfortable.

But here’s what they DIDN’T do.. they didn’t elaborate that these are NOT pancakes. They are literal cakes, made in an oven. My friend and I made that conclusion and the waiter confirmed this.

This is why they were so massive and why I couldn’t finish them. It would have helped me if this was explained because then I would have understood why I didn’t need to order that many, and ALSO, even if I did want that many, I don’t think staff should be making comments like that.

There were a few more comments which came from staff and then them checking on how I was doing eating the pancakes. All in all, while they may have had good intentions, it made for an uncomfortable experience.

The cake itself tasted nice, but please be warned, these are not pancakes. These are cakes stacked on top of each other covered with some kind of (tasty) dip on top and square butter that you might not be able to notice the difference like me.

My suggestion to the restaurant would just be to market it differently, as these are not North American pancakes, and then not comment on people’s eating choices unless you can properly explain why.

Otherwise, I had a nice experience, the restaurant itself was nice and comfortable, and people were friendly, but it was such a strange experience though I felt I had to share...

Went here with a group of friends last Saturday for a late lunch. The main server we had was lovely. We ordered drinks and food. I asked for an Iced Matcha. I then asked the server if whole milk was the default option. She said yes and I told her I’d have that then. When drinks came, mine looked like matcha in water. That’s exactly what it was. I took a couple sips to confirm and a couple of my friends did too. We all agreed. I managed to get a servers attention eventually, told him the situation. He said that I needed to ask for milk (which, if I’ve ever asked for an Iced Matcha, it’s always automatically come with milk). I told him I did. He came back a couple minutes later with the same drink and a tiny container of milk. He told me that the baristas refused to remake it as I had already drunk some of it. I was pretty offended by this response. He told me that there’s milk for me to add in, or if I’m not happy, he would take it back and get it remade. I told him, that I was sorry but it’s not what I ordered and I was pretty disappointed by their response when they didn’t make my drink correctly. He went to get it remade. When the main server came with our food, she asked if everyone was okay. My friend told her I was waiting for my drink and she looked confused. I explained the situation and she was apologetic and went to go chase my drink. She came back a couple minutes later, but it just looked like they’d plopped the small container of milk straight into the same drink. I ordered an iced matcha latte, not milky water. Eventually I spoke to her again and told her that I was sorry but it’s not what I ordered and I don’t want it. She took it off the bill and apologised. The food we had was absolutely delicious though. I shared the Mediterranean salad and a pancake with a friend. The pancake is massive, so definitely was a good idea to share between two of us. Would come back here for the food, but I was extremely disappointed in the service from the baristas/bar staff. It was hard to get someone’s attention, but our main server was so lovely, unfortunately didn’t...

Visited the Sunday in Brooklyn on a sunny Thursday for brunch at around 11am. The restaurant was easy to get to from Bond Street station, the food was great however the service was really bad. We ordered two Cheddar Scramble and a single pancake - along with two of the refillable coffee. First of all, it was difficult to find someone to order when my friend arrived, then when the coffee arrived no one bothered to ask whether we wanted some sugar or anything, when the food came, the waiter didn’t even offer condiments - salt, pepper, ketchup, mayo anything. We had to constantly actively look for servers to get us basic condiments or any service, considering it is a Thursday morning the restaurant was not even half packed it is very hard to understand why there was no one serving us at all! Even getting refillable drink was difficult even, and I must say the coffee tasted awful. Upon getting the bill, the waiter initially acknowledges it, but then completely forgotten about it and started chatting with other staff while we kept trying to get any one of their attention. We failed to get any of their attention and honestly at that point our patience has ran out and decided to pay via the QR code - which we notice there is a 12.5% service charge on top which account to about £7, we really wanted to waive it but honestly there were no staff around for us to even ask to remove it. Looking back, I really wish we demanded the service charge removed since we received 0 service - and the table next to us who got seated for about 20 mins, no one have even ask whether they would like to order, which is an absolute joke. All in all, it was quite an awful experience - I have decided to visit upon hearing positive feedback on their Notting Hill branch but I don’t know what would make me ever want to revisit, shame as the food and the atmosphere was...

Had been wanting to eat here for a while after hearing so much about their famous pancakes. Beautiful setting, just off Oxford street with outside seating. However the day we visited it was 32 degrees out so we opted for the aircon inside table. Lovely server showed up to our seats. Couple mins later we’re given menus and we order our drinks. Then food order goes in and we opt for two breakfast buns followed by their pancake to share. Problem was as I said that day was seriously hot and really don’t appreciate it when the food comes before your drinks which in this case happened. So onto the breakfast bun. Scrambled egg with cheese and bacon and what seemed to be some type of single crisp on top, The bacon tasted like it had been cooked in a pan and burnt. That overwhelming burnt tase literally killed any chance of tasting the egg or cheese. The fries were rock hard like they’d been sat under a hot lamp for 20 mins before what was left over was scooped up and put in a bowl. The pancake came and looks amazing. Now we knew it was gonna be sickly, what else would a pancake covered in chocolate be but it’s not a pancake. It’s a pre baked cake base, thick and stodgy with hazelnut praline covering every inch of it. It kind of tasted as if the cake had been warmed up in a microwave before being served. So for 2 breakfast buns, one portion of fries, 2 cokes and a pancake it was £80, which I find severely overpriced for what we were served. I really was expecting more from Sunday in Brooklyn and given that they’ve spent so much on the interior which is really cool, I’d have hoped the food would have been at least edible! Far too easy to rely on Instagram to become a destination rather than make food that you can actually enjoy, 1 star for the food and won’t be returning,

Brunch at Sunday in Brooklyn was a treat, and it’s easy to see why this spot has built such a strong reputation. We went in with high expectations, and honestly, it delivered. Pancakes That Live Up to the Hype The Sunday Pancakes with hazelnut maple praline were as indulgent as they looked. Thick, fluffy, and perfectly golden, they were soaked in the rich, nutty syrup that gave them an almost caramel-like depth. The little heart-shaped butter on top was a nice touch, slowly melting into the sauce. This is definitely a must-order if you’re into sweet brunches. A single is more than enough for 3 people to finish honestly! Cilbir Eggs – A Flavor Bomb The Cilbir Eggs were another standout. Poached eggs rested on a bed of creamy, garlicky yogurt, drizzled with a vibrant chili oil and served with crispy sourdough. The contrast of tangy yogurt, runny yolks, and smoky spice was spot on. If you’re a fan of bold, well-balanced flavors, this dish is a winner. Egg Sandwich – Comfort in a Bun The Egg Sandwich was all about comfort—soft scrambled eggs with just the right amount of gooeyness, cheddar melting into them, and a touch of gochujang mayo for a mild kick, all encased in a toasted, sesame-speckled bun. It was simple, but the execution was excellent. Final Thoughts Sunday in Brooklyn lives up to its hype. The food is indulgent but well-crafted, the flavors are balanced, and the experience is worth the visit. If you’re heading here, definitely go for the pancakes, but don’t overlook the eggs—whether it’s the Cilbir or the scrambled egg sandwich, you won’t be disappointed. Would I come back? Absolutely. On a side note, felt a little rushed by the waiter- a little too hasty
