Worst Indian food we've ever eaten, and worst experience in an Indian restaurant. One particularly rude waiter when we entered, no greeting, just pointed at a table at the front to sit down, a few inches from another couple. We asked to sit at the next table, but he insisted we sit at this particular table so all the diners were squashed up the front near the window despite there being lots of other tables throughout the restaurant. We were already considering leaving because we felt unwelcome and uncomfortable. Another nicer waiter could see our discomfort and probably heard us talking about leaving and offered to move us to the next table that the rude waiter had refused us. So we moved and stayed- unfortunately! The food did not taste like authentic Indian. A bit like a microwavable curry from a super market or worse. Chicken tikka masala was watery and bland with exactly nine very small pieces of chewy chicken. The other curry was similar, a few very small pieces of rubbery lamb. The portions were way too expensive for the price paid. Hard to believe it was cooked by an Indian chef. We did eat it because we were very hungry, but the small portions didn't fill us and we went straight to the pub for dessert after. Definitely weren't going to be trying the deserts there. Felt like we paid a lot of money for reheated microwavable tesco meals- sauce basically. The only good part of eating here was the beer and the naan was nice. No one came to ask how our meal was, despite there being almost more waiters than diners at the time. An old waiter came over after we were given the bill and just said "open your phone- google!", in a very abrupt way. Eventually figured out he wanted me to write a review on google for the restaurant. So here I am, writing this review! He didn't even know if we enjoyed our meal and experience! So many other nice restaurants on this street- do not make the mistake of...
Read moreRaj has had good reviews here, tonight he was downright arrogant and rude, not only to me but to other customers as well. Jamal was Brilliant, v apologetic and couldn't have done more. Food was disappointing, over the last 2 years it has tasted euthentic every time, tonight - like hot curry powder/paste in my prawn dhansak and sag paneer... 😕 But Jamal persuaded me to hang on in there, and to give them another chance.......!! Will do, they've been great in the past, most accommodating, + Fab food... I'll wait and see, in optimistic anticipation...
After posting the above review, whilst still in the restaurant, Raj straight away became verbally abusive to my face - but apparently it had been a stressful day. He came across to me as very masoganasitic, and jumped straight on the above review, got right in my face, after which, whilst I remained in the restaurant, he was vile.
Jamal nonetheless tried to temper the situation and to be fair, Had Not Charged me for the food that I had been disappointed with previously - All Credit to him, and to the Establishment. I had previously overheard complaints from other tables - but apparently they were resolved well. Again, perhaps as they were apparently so busy previously, they had had a below par day - Every time I have eaten there over the last 2 years, the Food + Service has been Excellent! That's why I have kept going back.... After Raj's verbal tonight, having posted a review, I may be reticent to go near again (some people Just Cannot take criticism), but never take someone else's words for it until you experience it for yourself - one bad night for me, does not mean anything. I Always Loved going there before tonight........Give it a try And...
Read moreFAKE REVIEWS. Do not be tricked into these fake reviews. I generally hate writing bad reviews as I really don't want to contribute to the downfall of any company, however, they need to not force people or pressure people into writing all these lovely fake reviews. One of the attendants asked us to leave a review and literally was touching my friends phone and pressing 5 stars.
Don't get me wrong, the attendant Raj was friendly and the other staff were okay, however, it's really not appropriate to persuade people into writing these fake reviews. I only came here as it has such high ratings on Google, but honestly this must be the genuinely worse Indian food I've ever had. I ordered aloo palak and roti. The roti was decent but the aloo palak had no flavour and lacked seasoning. It wasn't terrible, but it was flavourless which made it worse. Don't get me started on the rice my friend and I shared. The waiter coerced us into getting an additional rice to share despite us having roti and naan saying that they were really small and wouldn't be enough for the main dish, this was a lie as we really didn't need the rice. Weirdly, I also heard another waiter doing the same thing and coercing a European family to not drink the tap water stating that it's not drinkable, which was a lie, as I genuinely think it was actually some of the most refreshing tap water lol.
The washroom is downstairs and it wasn't the greatest, and I saw the kitchen door open which is right next door. I hope they take on this review because it's not nice what they're doing people to get additional sales. And just like other reviews, once the man stopped coercing my friend, he brought two 'free' shot glasses of...
