OK I've been here twice now for a takeaway both late nights at around 1am after work.
So far it seems consistent at least on these 2 cases.
Strap in its about to be a proper review.
I mainly go for burgers and wings so I get something they call the loaded box (Very Original 😂).
It consists of a fillet burger , 4 wings, chips and a drink for a fiver (Competitively priced for Romford).
Let's start with the chips.... They seem to be onto a winner, they are really tasty and that's without any Seasoning and eaten after the 10 minute journey back home.
They also provide 2 versions of the fillet burger (Original and Zinger) I go for the zinger because I like a bit of heat. Anyway as it stands, they have the best fillet burger in Romford town centre, the assembly is on point, the sauce to lettuce ratio is also correct..... Now this is important the thickness of the breast fillet is decent, for some reason over the years the fillet size in Romford has been getting smaller and smaller, most places provide what many would call a mini fillet except the bun etc remains the same size ruining the overall taste.
Anyway although it's called the zinger it's very hard to tell it actually is as it tastes like a normal fillet burger but it does have the tiniest chilli hit, this need to be revised and have more of a chilli hit.
Next the wings..... This place has a KFC style type wing recipe.... Well at least when it comes down to the texture.... In my opinion hot wings should be hot and spicy as the name suggests..... I find their wings on the bland side, it is in desperate need of more Seasoning and spiciness..... The positives though is the cook on the wings are great and still juicy even though its not super fresh aka straight out the fryer, and the texture is great, the size of the wings are also great.
In terms of strictly flavour the hot and tasty boys and dixy is better at least in that aspect.
A few more things I'd like to add while I'm here... The chilli sauce they serve is nice but not correct..... The chilli sauce they have although tasty is not the best..... The one they provide is the one that you normally find on a kebab roll at your local kebabish original, anyway it's a minor thing but I would prefer a homemade chilli sauce that you can find in alot of the East London chicken shops.... The ones with a naga chilli base.
I would like to try their pizza at some point and see if it's any good, it's too bad they don't have a cheap pizza day like dixy, otherwise I'd be all over it.....if I ever do I'll update this review.
Also customer service is also on point, boss man seems to care.... Maybe because its his actual business.
Anyway If nothing is changed with the recipe, I hope they maintain their standard before they start offering delivery.
Anyway I wrote this review because on their menu it asked for any feedback, and I felt compelled to leave some constructive feedback for them as I want them to do well.
Anyway It is the best place for chicken and chips in Romford at the minute followed by the hot and tasty guys closer to the station.
I know this review will get you a few more customers, and it's well deserved but there is room for improvement, hopefully you'll take on some of my suggestions whilst...
Read moreHad a lovely experience ordering my food which you hardly get these days. I didn’t catch the gentlemans name who I ordered with but he appeared to be the manager and he was absolutely lovely and I would definitely go again!
Update*
After going home and trying the food, it was nice but one of my bbq chicken wings was very pink inside so of course I wasn’t going to eat it. I read other reviews but thought things would change but it didn’t a tiny bit disappointed as the rest of the food was okay and nice, they just need to make sure everything is checked throughly.
I have tried the pizza when I was doing some freelance work and I was impressed, I would get the pizza again and when I initially tried the hot wings, they...
Read moreIt's the first take away chip shop that looks clean and tidy. Very good first impression. The food is also better than all the other competing shops around the area. Most chip shop don't change their cooking oil to often and that really kills the food they sell, but not this place. They seem to understand that clean oil is tastier food. So, that's a big plus for this place. One thing I will say though is that they do need to work a bit on their customer facing soft skills. Politeness and Cleanliness is a key to success. They have the latter, need to work a bit on the former!
All in all, a good place for a late night fry up. Certainly one of the better places in...
