Nice place, nice vibe. Dropped a star because the staff treat you very differently if 1) you are a guest and 2) you leave a tip.

Firstly, I rang 6x an hour before my booking to call them to confirm my booking. Goes to voicemail. I turn up 30 mins prior to make sure everything is set for before my group arrives. As soon as I tell them I have a reservation, their attitude with me changes completely from dismissive to welcoming.

Secondly, we were charged "optional service charge" on our bill which we happily paid. When the waiter took our payment, we were asked if we wanted to leave a tip. I asked, 'why this when we have paid an optional service charge', to which I was responded with by a non-UK waiter, "in the UK we have to explain [...can't remember]". This stinks. The UK is not accustomed to paying tips on top of service charge. Felt very belittled and guilty for not paying a tip.

On top of this, our booking mentioned nothing about our reservation requiring that we would need to leave by 9pm. So (prior to paying with the tip awkwardness), we were told our table was booked until 9pm but realistically we wouldn't need to leave until 9.30pm.

We paid (with the awkward declining of the tip) at 9.10pm. This was quickly followed by another member of staff advising us we needed to leave.

The venue was great, however. But we had to order our own drinks at the bar...

We arrived a little early for our booking, they advised they didn't have a table available inside till our booking time but could sit outside, no problem only there was multiple tables free (that didnt get filled the whole time we were there) so sat outside very lovely view even if we did freeze! We eventually were able to order a drink and you can watch them make it from the top of the boat over the bar, I have never experienced such slow service when the bar was so quiet. After 40 minutes we got our drinks and it was way past our booking time and we asked for the bill as we hadnt been brought inside (again multiple free tables and they were far from busy) and gave our table to another couple that was freezing outside as well. The cocktails were ok, we have visited cocktail places up and down the country and these were just ok. The staff were nice but the manager (?!) Didn't manage very well and needs to get quicker at making drinks and not wondering off half way through making them. We won't return nor would we recommend unfortunately. Has such potential just needs to be managed better. I think being quiet on a Saturday night is a big give away, they should have been filled and have heaters and blankets for tables outside with the view they should have been so busy you can't see...
