As someone who spent years in British Airways First Class, I’ve developed a nose for quality and a soft spot for good, honest service, whether it’s a five-star hotel or a humble local grill. Sadly, Mix N Grill on Manchester Road E14 didn’t just miss the mark; it didn’t even check in. From the get go, the experience was bumpy. Everything I ordered was out of stock not just once, but twice. By the time I’d reached my third-choice meal, I felt like I was working through the emergency menu mid-Atlantic. I ordered the 1/2 pounder meal and received a burger so small it could’ve passed as an in-flight canapé. Charged full price for what barely amounted to a snack, it left a bad taste in every sense. The patty itself tasted frozen and low grade the sort of thing you’d expect from a petrol station past midnight, not a new restaurant trying to make its mark. The overall quality was abysmal , a notch below your average local chicken shop. No charm, no flavour, and certainly no effort to deliver even the basics. I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews, but this felt more like a service failure than a poor meal. No attention to detail, no pride, and absolutely no reason to return. A real shame , there’s room for a decent grill on the Island, but this one’s yet to leave the runway.

Overall I had a good experience. This is a truly cozy place with quite a romantic atmosphere. I really liked the decoration, they clearly spent a lot of time and money to make it look appealing and warm. The music also complimented the experience. The menu and the food were a bit disappointing though. When I first looked at the menu I got a bit scared. It is one of the most extensive and longest menus I've ever seen. If you don't know much about restaurants, that's not a good thing. At all. It looks impressive at first sight and you feel like you have a lot of choice, but if you think about it, the reality is that they cannot possibly make that many dishes fresh in a timely manner. Which probably means a lot of frozen ingredients, separately prepared food items heated up together for a speedy service. Unfortunately as I suspected, this is precisely what happened. It wasn't even a few minutes after we made our order and the food was already out and it definitely tasted like the meat and the sauce were prepared completely separately lacking the integration of flavours. It was rather disappointing. I am leaving a positive review however because staff were really nice and the place itself was amazing. They do need to revisit their menu and food preparation techniques though.

I recently visited the newly opened Mix N Grill on Manchester Road E14 with my family, and unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the start, the experience was disappointing. I attempted to order from their Indian menu, but was told almost everything was out of stock. I then turned to their second menu (burgers, wings, etc.) only to find out most of that was unavailable too. It felt like the only items they had were frozen wings and low-quality burger patties. I ordered the 1/2 pounder meal, only to be told 20 minutes later that they didn’t have it in stock. Without asking, they replaced it with two small beef burgers, yet still charged the full price. The food quality was extremely poor, and honestly, I’ve had far better meals from local fried chicken shops. I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but this was a real letdown. No quality, no consistency, and certainly no value for money. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. It’s a shame to see a new restaurant open with such low standards.

Fantastic little place!! Please note this is NOT the same Gaylord as the one near Oxford Street.

Gotta admit, the orange signage and the dark windows scared me away from coming here for the past year I've lived in the Isle of Dogs.. but holy cow, was I missing out!!

There is a wide selection on their menu, with a few exclusive items. I wasn't entirely sure what to order, since most of the items were seafood / lamb / chicken with a "spicy sauce / aromatic sauce and tomatoes and onion". The description really doesn't tell you much about dish - and it definitely does not do the dish justice at all! For example, we ordered a few dishes with vague descriptions as above - but one had currants and it was sweet, with some almonds in it (100% delicious), another one actually had a sour kick to it - surprising but I liked it.

Some people have complained about the service, and yes it is a bit slow - but I think they are cooking the dishes completely fresh, and is it worth it for the wait? Hell yes! I can't exactly remember what I got, but after visiting them 3 times, I've never been disappointed. Wait wait. I did order 2 appies which I wasn't entirely happy with I believe they were lamb kebabs. They were a bit dry... but I'll just make sure to order just the mains next time.

At the end, the ladies receive roses (a bit cheesy, but its nice!!). Please note that there is 12.5% gratuity added on, but I think the guys work really hard here and definitely deserve that plus a bit more.

A slight downfall is that they DONT have a mango lassi... what?! On the upside, their bottles of wines are quite cheap - and if you order, you can get free delivery, and anything over £25, you will get a free rose AND a bottle...
