Last night I visited this pub to get some food for my partner before going to a show across the road at Prizm. Just a quick pint and some onion rings, seemed easy enough. The girls working the bar were friendly and we were happy with the beer selection. I had the Sambrooks Powerhouse Porter, one of my favourites. After waiting quite a long time for our food to arrive I returned to the bar for another half pint and enquired about the whereabouts of our onion rings. The girls on the bar were confused about which table they had sent my food to but assured me that someone would come over to my table when they knew what was happening. After waiting a while and no one coming to help us my partner asked me to get a refund as we had to leave quite soon. I spotted a young man in a white shirt wearing a radio who claimed to be a manager and asked him to help with my refund. He asked where I was sitting and as I walked back to my table he lost his temper and began shouting at me. Apparently I had to follow him to the bar to deal with the problem and he wasnāt going to come to my table. He didnāt like that I said the bar staff were confused (they were, and thatās ok, just help them) and barked that I donāt get to talk to him like that. He was obviously stressed, Iāve been managing pubs for years and can understand that it can be a handful, but when I tried to calm him down he radioād security to escort me out, claiming that Iād squared up to him and acted aggressively, which is exactly the behaviour he had just exhibited. Iāve never known such terrible customer service and cowardice. Two very large bouncers approached me. I feared that if they ejected me from the premises I may not be let in by the security at the venue across the street where I was heading to next. Thankfully these doormen had far better customer service skills and spoke to me about my complaint in a calm and professional manner, we had no problem. I got the impression that they were used to dealing with his tantrums. By the time this whole situation had blown over the food had actually arrived. We ate in a hurry, the doormen came over to apologise again, and we wished them goodnight.
Iād urge Weatherspoons to support the team at The Kings Tun as the girls on the bar had the right attitude but when there was a problem they couldnāt find a manager to help. And the manager on duty is far too immature and volatile to deal with a basic customer complaint, offering no apology and approaching the situation like a fight on a school playground. They clearly need the help of a more experienced manager as this lad isnāt fit to manage a pub floor, or a plate of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDear Wetherspoon,
Hope you are well.
We were a group of 10 visited the Kings Tun on 08 March 2024 around 2100-2330, it was my friendās birthday so we ordered over Ā£100 cocktails punches in total. However, your duty manager first closed down our table on the APP without telling any of us, then when we asked why, he told us that one of us was drunk so he banned us for ordering more.
We didnāt notice anyone was drunk, while the cocktails punches were fill with half ice, how can an adult be drunk by that? Personally, I havenāt even finished my first punch and the duty manager kicked all of us out. I was so confused! Just because we are Asian looking faces so we had to be weak at drinking? This is absolutely discrimination. We are definitely sure that we didnāt make loud noise or movement like the other people in the pub, we were only sitting by our table and talking.
When we wanted to solve this problem with the duty manager, he wasnāt respectful and didnāt talk to us face to face, didnāt give us his name in order to make a complaint. He told the security to kick us out, thatās it.
Sincerely, I hope the head office can give us a great explanation defining whatās the level or the boundaries of being ātoo drunkā till the point we can all get kicked out from a pub. Secondly, the duty manager should apologize to all of us face to face, and the office should give your employees a training lesson for their better manners.
Please let me know if required any further information. Have a great...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe love Wetherspoons. Wherever we visit we look for one. The food is no nonsense good pub grub at very reasonable prices. . Generally the service is spot on, fast and the staff are always happy and helpful. This is no less true of the Kings Tun in Kingston upon Thames.....except...! Sadly on Wednesday evening just passed, while looking forward to a simple but tasty spud and the place was quiet..the food arrrived bordering on the cold side. Being typically English we only mentioned this to our very pleasant apologetic waiter at the end of the meal, who said he would inform the kitchen. After all, anybody is entitled to an off day.. However on Thursday, admittedly very busy. Ordered again by app, (very good). But hands up! I got table number wrong. Once again absolutely brilliant staff 'no problem- we'll sort it.' However, 15 minutes later, food arrived-- really cold. My poppadoms soft, lamb Rogan Ghosh 'chilly'. Burgers and fries ready for the deep freeze. However waiting staff to the rescue! Smiles apologies, politeness and said order prepared anew and 15 minutes later delivered HOT. My point is this: COVID is making life difficult for all of us. But does that mean food should arrive cold? Please Wetherspoon, is there a need to look at timings for service at point of...
