Pre-dinner cocktails with Mrs. Got there early enough while happy hour was still on. Read about the place before and sounded like a decent place to enjoy a nice cocktail, rather loud party crowd at the bar with all seats taken and plenty visible drunk. Might have been early Christmas party so we opted for the sofa area in the front. Went to the bar and got a Mango Mezz for my wife, which is described as Fruity and Fresh...didnt taste like that at all and had a strange smoky flavour to it, couldnt really make out where this was coming from. I opted for a Bourbon based Return of the Mac after being told no Absinth was available for an American Psycho. didnt pay attention when my wife's drink was prepared but closely followed my own. It was carefully crafted with garnish and everything, however when it was served and I pointed out I didnt see any Bourbon being used, the bartender seriously tried to convince me that the drink was done with White Rum. I insisted on bourbon as I specifically chose a Bourbon drink and was keen on trying the stated Old Forester Bourbon. Visibly annoyed, he took the rum mixtures away and prepared another set of drinks. However, rather than using the right Bourbon, he used Jim Beam. When I pointed that out again, he first lied and said they were out of the other one, to which I replied I can see the right bottle behind you on the shelf, he then changed his excuse and argued that during Happy Hour they only use JB. This may be the case or not, of it was then you should at least point out that your HH drinks are of poorer quality. Rather than sorting it out , he grabbed the drinks and went to the cashier, gave me my money back in cash and moved on. Needless to say this spoilt the start of the evening and when my wife ended up with a smokey rather than fruity cocktail I couldnt be bothered anymore. Very poor bartending if you dont even know your own cocktails and then come up with such a rude behaviour when being confronted. No need...
Read moreSo, so, so last night I went out in the first time in forever, to a bar called The Ladybird in Islington. We did some good dancing and had some good drankz but then whilst waiting for 2 friends to get a round, I felt two hands violently grad my ass about 4/5 times. Now, normally in this kind of place, you have to shrug off some inappropriate brushes or nudges and give the offender the benefit of the doubt , which is incredibly sad and disturbing in itself, but this was a blatant and horrid act. So I turn around and his friend tells me to 'ignore him, he's drunk' as if that makes what he did okay. I ask the guy whether he did it- tail between his legs, he avoids the question. I go and tell a bouncer who, reluctantly, asks me to point him out and him and his friend are escorted out. 10 minutes later a bouncer pulls me outside and I'm faced with the man who assaulted me, his friend and 3 huge bouncers and told that he didn't do it because he said he didn't do it. I'm then expected to prove myself in front of the very person who thought it acceptable to walk up behind a stranger and grope them. My friends saw him do it, his friend told me he did it, a stranger told me he did it. But I'm the one who has to defend myself. The manager then speaks to me, without an apology, without anything like an apology but with a 'you have to understand where I'm coming from', 'there's two sides to the story' etc. etc. with no sympathy whatsoever. People should never be made to feel like an inconvenience for reporting a sexual assault and they should definitely not be made to convince 3 bouncers, a manager, the guy's friend and the offender that it really did happen. I never thought that a club like that could deal with a situation like that in such a ridiculous way but alas. Please never go to The Ladybird and, if you really have to, expect to be completely on your own if anything bad is to happen to you. The cocktails...
Read moreDo not under any circumstances attend this venue. Despite a pathetically low attendance at a peak hour on a Saturday the staff (including the owner) took it upon themselves to harass our party and eventually turn us away. This was after we’d paid to get in and also spent a large amount at the bar. None of our party were past the point of intoxication and we were simply having a good time. After complaining of the harassment the door staff then said “how much are you worth” like that matters and “ you better watch yourself”. Literally the most pathetic venue I’ve ever attended and only a matter of time before they fold. Good riddance, horrid people. EDIT 25.2.19Interesting that your accusation is of a racial nature yet predictably desperate..I’d like to point out that I was in attendance with my partner of different racial origin. In fact within our party of 7 we had several different ethnicities / cultural backgrounds. I severely doubt that my friends would want to spend their evening with a racist. These are complete and utter lies in an attempt to exonerate your staff from the harassment that was issued to our group. Your manager targeted me in particular because I’m white, with short hair and maybe not pretty enough for your club. Saying you’re going broke due to how you treat people is not racism. Complete liars and what is detestable is that you accuse me of racism. If you have any proof of racism I will happily volunteer to attend a police station. In fact as a responsible business you should be reporting racism to the police to protect other patrons. The fact of the matter is I wasn’t and never have been racist and you’re only playing this card because you’re a desperate business and won’t be there in a few months.
DO NOT ATTEND THIS VENUE. NOT ONLY WILL YOU BE HARASSED BY AGGRESSIVE STAFF YOU WILL ALSO BE...
