On a glorious English morning, the wife and I decided to go on a stroll to the city of Chelsea from Westminster. With dazzling sights on the horizon, we knew exactly which place we were going to dine in at for brunch. The decision was The Locals.
Upon arrival you’ll see an open concept where you could either pay at the counter and get it to-go or opt to sit in the restaurant as well.
We had time on our side so we sat down for the full brunch experience.
After glancing at the menu, the wife ordered a French Toast with Bacon. To compliment her entree she had a nice Peach Bellini. My entree of choice happened to be the full grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad. We also opted to share the Parmesan truffle fries.
The wife’s Peach Bellini was light and refreshing. She enjoyed sipping on it and making conversation as we waited for our food.
The wait was substantial but very much worth it.
Our food came out and it was aesthetically appealing. Starting off with the wife’s French Toast & Bacon. The maple syrup on the side helped elevate the French toast to create that delicious sweet texture while being complimented with generous slices of bacon. Though a tad on the chewy side, the portion size was decent for the cost.
In regards to the grilled chicken sandwich, this entree delivered the goods. I originally ordered this with no tomatoes but it did come with tomatoes. No worries, easy to manually take off.
Once I took off the tomatoes, I took a bite and immediately realized I was eating a phenomenal sandwich. Let’s get the details.
The portion size of this sandwich? Next level. Great amount of food that left me stuffed for hours.
The seeded whole wheat bread offered a slight crunch with earthy undertones. This was critical to nail, because nothing is worse than soggy bread!l They nailed the bread.
The grilled chicken? Not your store bought grilled chicken. Elevated with black pepper and a touch of salt, this chicken was cooked wonderfully. The chicken was fresh, clean & made for this sandwich.
The lettuce and side salad were all fresh and a nice compliment to what was a great dish.
Now the Parmesan Truffle fries. These hot delicately laced truffle fries were the talk of the table! First off it’s very easy to go overboard and overpower the palate with truffle, and they nailed it.
The fry itself was sturdy, crunch and pillowy with a nice light oil texture that complimented the Parmesan in a phenomenal manner. You could taste that the oil these were fried in is fresh and that makes all of the difference. This is one of my favorite fries of all time.
There’s a reason why tons of people online recommend The Locals. Delicious Food. Chill Vibe. Decent Prices.
Go now., but be careful you might just become a local after you...
Read moreWarning: Lengthy post. I met a friend at this location. To preface, my friend had been waiting a long while as I got delayed from work. While waiting for me he had ordered some food. We've been here a few times with no issues. Anyway, as soon as I got to the place and sat, I asked for the menu feeling quite famished. One server came back with them and abruptly said, "We have a reservation at this table in 25 minutes. And (directly at my friend) YOU have been here for more than 2 hours." Of course, to us the reservation part was certainly NOT a problem at all. We certainly understand and respect how reservations work. We were happy to move along anyway. What left me feeling DISGUSTED was the UNNECESSARILY SNARKY COMMENT that person made after. How on earth could we have known that there is a time limit at this restaurant after all? This guy should have made my friend aware from the start OR he simply should not have said the latter in such a demeaning and dismissive fashion. (Mind you, there were at least 3 empty tables outside of the cafe.) Call me a snowflake, but as someone who also works in the service industry, I believe there is a much cordial way to deal with customers. I hope that person receives the customer service training he TERRIBLY REQUIRES. Or better yet, I hope this place hire more respectful staff. Shame because the food here is...
Read moreWe had brunch here with a group of friends, the booking process was already stressful as they got the number of people and time wrong three times.
Firstly we ordered some drinks, everyone got theirs except for one friend who waited for another 10 minutes for her cappuccino. I ordered an oat latte, Both me and a couple of my friends tasted it at it was made with regular milk, I then asked the waiter to take it back, but they didn’t even took it off our bill.
The food order had been problematic too. Some of us had asked for extra ingredients. These extras were missing from the plates and were brought in separately after asking the waitress (and thus after waiting several minutes).
The bill came and I asked not to pay for the oat latte I didn’t drink nor the service charge. A waiter then came asking why we wanted to take out the discretionary service charge and he asked (kinda gaslighting tho) if I was sure my latte didn’t have oat milk. Then proceeded to give us excuses for the fact the extra ingredients are always brought on a separate plate. At this point, I’m just wondering why on earth one would wait for their pancakes to get cold while waiting for the extra bacon to come…
There are so many other places that are defo better (for food and service)...
