This place used to be great, but the last time we went was a disaster. We went for breakfast - orders were taken quickly and drinks came out relatively soon. After 40 min we asked whether our food was on the way, because we could see that 2 of the 3 chefs had just disappeared from the open kitchen for a solid 10 min. The one remaining chef was cleaning up, but not making food.
After we flagged this with staff, nothing was happening for 10 min until we were asked what our order was again, as they had no record of it. Another 20 min later our food arrived. Some things were missing and we had to ask for it, the other dish was also not 100% as ordered. The food was average at best, definitely not the way it used to be just a few months ago.
The staff just had no idea what they were doing. People were waiting to order or waiting for food to come out left right and Center and staff just didn't seem to even notice.
To be honest, we should have just left like the table next to us that was not approached by staff for half an hour and left without even having received table water or being given a chance to order drinks / food.
Really sad as this used to be one of the few nicer cafes in the area but we won't be back - saying that, the staff took some drinks of our bill and applied a discount, which led to is only paying about half of the original bill. That was nice, but all I wanted was a nice, relaxing breakfast, so paying less didn't...
Read moreI took my mum and brother here for brunch one Saturday. What started off well (nice iced coffees, great decor/ambience) turned into a bit of a disaster - my brother and I ordered the shakshuka which arrived about 10 minutes after my mums dish arrived. The eggs on top were completely solid - I've had shakshuka so many times and the yolks should be soft if not slightly running. I asked the waitress kindly if I could have a new dish and she said that wouldn't be a problem. 15 minutes later no sign of a new dish so I asked again, they said it was on its way, another 10 minutes and I had to ask for the second time! Eventually I received not a fresh dish, but two poached eggs on their own, on a plate to put on the top of my now cold, original shakshuka dish. The waitress did apologies by by this time this had happened both my brother and mum had long finished their dishes. To top it all off we tried to mention this to the waiter who brought us our bill who's response was not only annoyance but he then went and started talking about us to the other waiting staff still within listening distance - nice! The manager was far more apologetic but it doesn't really make up for the whole thing. Such a shame because everything else...
Read moreConfusing menu and no vegetarian main options - Parmesan is NOT vegetarian.
This review isn't on the actual restaurant itself. It has a great atmosphere and is a nice little hideaway in the middle of busy Victoria. However, I would like to comment on their menu in general. Before I went, I took a look at the menu online and messaged the team via Facebook to speak to them about their only advertised vegetarian main option, which was/is parmesan gnocchi. Parmesan is not vegetarian, so the purpose of my message was to alert them to the fact that it's not vegetarian; and asking if there were other alternatives that might not be advertised online.
I received no reply, although the message appears to have been read according to FB messenger.
We went anyway. As it turns out, there are no vegetarian main options aside from the parmesan gnocchi. To make matters more confusing, some items such as the feta-stuffed peppers were not labelled vegetarian and the waitress could not tell me why there was such a discrepancy between the items. To top it all, my friend ordered a burger and they came back saying that they had sold out... at 7pm on a Thursday evening. We ended up having our starters and...
