No star at all. 12/0822 3:30pm. As we enter the restaurant no one assisted us , staff were chatting and manager on computer. They have seen us come in. Huge place I don’t know if we were aloud to seat everywhere.. bizarre to start. We found a table, indoor, opposite the kitchen were we can see the people outside and view of the kitchen at the same time. I stood up and took my own menu and distributed to my party. The waiter approached us and as he opened his mouth to take our drink orders, I smelled alcohol when he was taking an order. He doesn’t know what is a mocktail. I ordered pinacolada instead, it’s revolting! I normally have 3-4 pinacoladas but that one was no good. He (Italian, he confirmed) placed our still and sparkling water on the table without any service( I don’t mind). The manager lady, I assumed, took our main orders without any enthusiasm with a blunt eyes, no please and thank you’s. After 5 mins the waiter came and asked for our orders, which was already taken. Staff chatting around. Very chilled atmosphere and I like the ambiance and food was ok, trout was cooked well. So all of these observations was fine, maybe they had a long day. I don’t want to complain. Italian guy waiter was done for the day and left at about 4:30ish.
I asked for the bill from a young lady. Normally I don’t check my bill and just pay. Yesterday, I checked and found additions for opt.service charge and charity. I didn’t like this part because I was not asked or even informed that this was added into my bill. It’s like stealing. I FELT CHEATED. I asked the waiter what are they for and she said “I don’t know”. I explained to her my concern and she understood. This is what is on the website about the charity: To make your support easier, we are delighted to partner with Pennies the digital charity box that allows you to make a big difference by donating a small amount when paying your bill. So far, our lovely customers have made more than 300,000 individual donations, raising over £150,000 for charity. I THINK YOU SHOULD ASK AND INFORM ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL FEES, ITS MY MONEY. To avoid inconvenience and embarrassment for the staffs and for the clientele. First ask before adding additions to peoples bills. I like supporting charities so I could have...
Read moreIf London (never mind just Canary Wharf) has a better menu to cater for all tastes than The Parlour’s, I’d like to see it.
If you and your company can’t decide on a single cuisine, don’t. Life is full of too many compromises.
Whether you’re looking to just casual drinks, a bite to eat or a full blown meal, the very stylish Parlour offers three seating areas – dining, bar stools and sofas.
With an extensive alcohol menu as long as both arms (non of which I could try being a non alcoholic (womp, womp womp) and food to please even the most indecisive (me) including burgers, steaks, puddings, sandwiches, salads, flatbreads and sharing boards. See their menu for more details. I opted for a seafood/Italian dish, the crayfish and crab linguine (£9.95).
Is there anything worse than dry pasta? The Parlour made no such mistake with a lovely tomato sauce coating the dish, seasoned perfectly with just enough herbs and red onions added a little more texture and crunch. A slight hint of chilli made things a little more interesting so it gave your mouth a little kick (in a good way). There was also a fair amount of seafood too for £10 which I was pleased about. Onto dessert.
I wasn’t too sure what a Baked Alaska was although I had heard of it. It came with a little copper pan of sauce with sweet cherries, which I wasn’t entirely sure what to do with. Every time I poured some onto that white fluffy top it trickled right off!
I finally had a eureka moment and worked it out and revealed the sponge hiding underneath. For a moment I thought it was one giant piece of cream! Not that I would have turned it down had it been that. What did it taste like? Melted marshmallow. Mmmmmm.
The light sponge gladly soaked up the sauce up like a, well a sponge… It was all very indulgent and although the cream was light too, the whole dessert felt very heavy after a main course – no...
Read morePoor service today for a Mothers 65th Birthday meal. Shown to a table by a "Waitress", We werent advised that we had to order via a QR code and that they dont provide a table service.
Orderes our food which was actually ok. Starters came relatively quick as did the drinks. The drinks were horrendous and badly made.
The mains arrived and we were missing one. The "Waitress" didnt comment or clearly spot that they had only delivered 2 of 3 mains. After 10 minutes of waiting i questioned the missing food and she said yes were waiting on the dish. The manager queried with the Kitchen which luckily is an open kitchen and it was clear they had forgotten the meal. This was quickly and rather questionably quickly made and delivered.
Onto deserts and second drinks. Ordered via the QR code. Order confirmation received and funds taken from card. After 20 minutes of waiting we queried the order. The "Waitress" was confused and have a convo with 3 managers i assume. Another 5 minutes if waiting we were told the order hadnt gine through as the payment wasnt received. I queried how we were given a order confirmation via their app and the funds showing as taken from our account. They advised this hadnt gone through and there isnt anything they can do and walked off !!!!
Chased up a manager who advised it is a known erroe and glitch with their system but they still use the system as they couldnt cope without it due to covid staffing issues !!
I stood there and watched him pull up our order on his screen and reverse the payment back to us which i assume meant he didnt have the desserts available in the first place. The service and their attitude was poor for a £140 odd...
