Free to visit and open daily to the public until 9pm or sunset in summer, Crossrail Place Roof Garden is one of London’s largest. Wander through and admire the exotic plants, relax on one of the many benches nestled in hidden pathways or enjoy a show in the amphitheatre.
Crossrail Place sits almost exactly on the Meridian line and the planting is arranged according to which hemisphere they are from with Asian plants such as bamboos to the east, and plants such as ferns from the Americas to the west.
The 80-seater performance space ignites the imaginations of children and adults alike. In partnership with The Space Theatre, a local performing arts charity on the Isle of Dogs, we deliver performances of music, dance and theatre in this outdoor performance space.
We welcome local community groups, students, and amateur dramatics groups to use this amphitheatre to showcase their talents. All events delivered as part of this programme are free and offer opportunities for local people to take part in or watch a wide variety of activities and encourage people to engage with the space in new and...
Read moreREMARCABLE fake glass enflated baloon window structure, engeneering at the highiest level to adapt the weight of the structure, and create the ideal climate for the plants. I think they recently renewed some plants as a new tube stop is opening soon nearby. It is a nice garden with allegedly species from different landscapes as in explanatory tables provided, with some art exihibition than and there. What really is missing in this place in my opinion is a smart use of the 2 lateral semicircular areas inside the garden. I always think how would be beautiful to have a little bar and tables inside to have a proper sit breakfast inside the garden or even some fairy lights dinner during the hotter days of summer. And why the management misses also to use the little amphitheater to host shorts of theater pieces with the several actors companies in London? That would be a free promotion on both sides that would only benefit everyone: the garden, the actor companies and the visitors! Hence my 4 stars, hopefully we would see the changes in...
Read moreCanary Wharf Roof Garden is a green sanctuary built above a railway station. It is playfully place and I enjoy it very much. The garden sits right on the Prime Meridian (sic!). That inspired its layout: Eastern Hemisphere plants are on the east side and Western Hemisphere species are planted on the west. The pathway is curved and you have a feeling that you can play hide and seek there. The garden supports a thriving ecosystem—goldfinches, blackbirds, pollinators—all nesting, feeding, and enhancing ecological layers above Canary Wharf. The timber-ETFE structure lets in rain and filtered sunlight, crafting a warm, sheltered environment ideal for subtropical and temperate plant...
