The Square Pig — Restaurant in London

Booked well in advance for a fairly big table, for a work event. The two guys behind the bar around 6pm were amazing, sad to say the woman that joined later was very unpleasant. We were really excited to come here for a leaving party and Christmas event. Started off really nicely, we booked a table for 5pm. Most people turned up after 5:30 pm as work ran over. It was really nice to start we got a drink while we discussed work etc. when to get a second drink a couple people ordered food. A group of us go to the bar to order food after 7, they told us kitchen closed at 7. This was not mentioned when we arrived, nor in the booking. We asked to buy shots and the lady on the bar told us we don’t do deals on shots here, you should go somewhere else. We decided to stay for another drink and decided on a second round of drinks (we knew we would not get a deal) she then said you really need to leave. 8pm we have had 2-3 drinks each and a shot or two. The place is empty asides from a few small tables. This woman was giving us dirty looks and attitude and genuinely making it a very uncomfortable experience. We even offered to go to McDonald’s or Waitrose for snacks to stay here longer and she told us to leave. Maybe if you go when the two nice men behind the bar are working that originally served us are working you’ll have a nice time. But today was a massive let down for what was supposed to be a big celebration which was clear in...

Booked for a work xmas lunch for 7 of us and were super disappointed with the food and service. We didn't have the xmas lunch as we didn't preorder (were never told that we had to) but this didn't matter as none of us wanted a huge 3 course meal. We ordered from the main menu and it was all easy stuff to knock up steaks, burgers and some fries. The food took 90 mins to come.... 90 mins.... it wasn't even that busy. A normal lunch rush. Staff didn't give two hoots. We asked 3 different people when the food would come and each said 'You're next'. Sadly not true.

When the food did come it was all overdone. Medium rare steaks were far from it, the burger was tough and they brought the wrong food for one of our table.

At this stage you deal with customer service by comping some drinks or something to smooth things over right? Nope. Shrugs all round and "You're next".

To top it all off they tried to charge over £20 service charge (which wasn't even listed on our bill). Suffice to say we didn't pay it and won't be back. Don't waste your money here. Find a better pub. Shame as I actually thought it looked nice when...

Went for lunch at the start of December, and it was very noisy due to a large works Xmas party taking place. Also, we were seated next to the terrace door which was constantly in use by the party goers as they went outside to smoke. The food was excellent but they served my colleague the wrong dish. We didn't complain as it was so noisy we just wanted to eat and leave. 5 minutes later the waitress came over and apologised for serving the wrong meal, then said that we would need to pay the difference. We couldn't be bothered to argue as it was so noisy we just wanted to get out. The food was good but I think that they need to reassess their capacity when dealing with a large party and other clients.

Update - Since posting the management have contacted me directly to apologise and offer a complimentary meal to demonstrate that this experience was not the norm. We have since had this meal and did experience much better customer service. I have updated the review from 2 stars to 4 stars...
