Toast — Restaurant in London

I have been coming here for many many years as it has been a great feature that downstairs was music free ( until this week) and upstairs had music. The cappuccinos are the best and fresh juice is great too and, nice toast! I have read some of the reviews here from 6/8 months ago about staff and can reassure that the current staff are really lovely and friendly. However, there is no contact for the owner, hence writing here, and the website is no longer in use - I just tried to write an email. I have been told this morning that the owner has decided to connect a speaker to the downstairs lounge/ room area and that it can not be turned off or volume adjusted. It is no longer the relaxed work environment it was as I simply don’t want to be listening to music or a radio channel in a small confined space if I want to work or just want some peace! I know I am not alone as others have commented about the same great feature and other customers currently here were very happy when I suggested I ask if the music be turned off downstairs. Live locally and decided to try this place out. Came for breakfast - cafe with 5 tables, told food would be 25 mins. Asked for vegetarian breakfast and if we could substitute the eggs for a little extra avocado - "we don't do susbtitutes" despite the fact avocado already comes with the breakfast (a few extra slices would presumably make no difference). Ended up ordering an avocado toast instead...which consists of 2 slices of sourdough and a laughable half avocado thrown onto the side of the plate (I guess it's a DIY situation...) - barely enough avocado to cover one slice of toast. Totally unaccomadating, slow and unfriendly staff. Unsurprising the place is empty on a Saturday lunchtime - charging as much as possible while providing the least amount possible (in terms of both food and service) - probably not a sustainable business proposition. I went to get breakfast, so disappointed. I ordered a bacon roll and handed over £10, but was given change for £5, which made me immediately mistrustful, as i knew that i only had a £10 note on me. Then without totaling the till (as anyone who was truly in doubt would do) he handed me my correct change, without apology. Think he thought 8:30am on a Sunday, he could pull a fast one! Then I am handed the sandwich I had ordered and walk off and take a bite to find no bacon in my - bacon - sandwich! I walk back and ask what's going on and was told I definitely had been given bacon! I would warn anyone using here to double check the price and change and whatever they purchase before leaving this establishment! I will not be back, shameful way to...
