It was the day after my an old college Gemini were desperate to meet up before lockdown. London Victoria was halfway between both our houses so we decided to meet there and as I was looking for a place to eat there weren't very many places with open locally he had one at 5.15. From the moment we entered the restaurant till the moment we left, EVERYTHING was perfection. Attentive and professional wait staff, sleekly modern yet warm and cosy decor, wonderfully quirky adds to the ambience such as Italian lessons being piped over the sound system in the loo, giant screen Italian movies playing over the kitchen with English subtitles, in the menu both creative reflective of fine Italian cuisine. We decided to share some small plates, the stunning cheese platter with three graduating strength Italian cheeses, the wild boar sausage which reminded me greatly of Genoa, is sumptuous black truffle ravioli served with a delicate lemon cream sauce an additional shavings of black truffle.. my friend had the octopus and squid dish, which he loved ( I stay away from tentacles).. A fantastic light-hearted red wine, and simply superb table service made our evening charming and satisfying. we have committed to bringing our significant others here to share another evening, after lockdown us over! I don’t keep going on about Tozi because the fact I come here so often says it all. Although attached to the Park Plaza near Victoria it is very much its own self. Large, modern and with open-view cooking, the young and vibrant staff are exceptionally well-drilled; professional, attentive, disciplined without being ‘in your face’ at all. It is your day, not theirs. The tapas style menu has exceptionally cooked food. Try the Zucchini but you won’t stop eating it until the bowl is empty. Lovely calamari, excellent pasta including the buffalo ricotta ravioli and fantastic grills and bakes, including the delicious Aubergine Parmigiana I had today. The “small” portion was very filling and brought smiles to the eaters. In the evening there are larger sharing dishes, so feeling empty is not an option when you leave. Above all, it is the truly lovely staff who make the place plus some excellent wines including my personal favourite, Carignano. Dress and style is utterly informal but when people say “it’s not cheap” why should it be? The quality of the food and the service plus just the number of excellent staff means it doubtless has high overheads. Just because it is informal does not mean it is not very high quality. We recently had the pleasure of taking a long lunch with our friends at Tozi in Victoria, London, and it was nothing short of a culinary revelation. From start to finish, the experience was impeccable, and we were utterly captivated by the exquisite dishes and exceptional service.

To begin, we indulged in the quail eggs with pickled mushrooms and black truffles salad – a symphony of flavors that tantalized our taste buds. The buffalo ricotta ravioli with black truffles and zucchini was a true masterpiece, with each bite revealing layers of rich and creamy goodness. The crispy sea bream on cauliflower purée was a standout, perfectly cooked and paired with the velvety texture of the purée. The highlight of the evening was the slow-cooked pork shoulder with chickpea, crispy pancetta, and rosemary jus. The tender pork melted in our mouths, while the crispy pancetta added a delightful crunch. For desert we savored the black cherry tart with delicious pistachio ice cream – a perfect balance of sweet and nutty flavors. The wine selection complemented each dish flawlessly. The attentive staff provided exceptional service, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of perfect.
