We popped in for dinner a few hours after the theatre, drawn by a menu that sounded too good to ignore and a restaurant buzzing with people, always a promising sign, especially on a Wednesday night. It had been ages since we’d had to wait for a table on a weekday, but this place was clearly worth the wait.
After a short pause, we were greeted by a cheerful, smiley waitress who quickly showed us to our table for two. The moment we stepped inside, the mouthwatering aroma hit us, and watching dish after dish arrive at nearby tables only made choosing what to eat even harder, everything on the menu looked incredible.
The only downside? We’d already treated ourselves to some snacks at the theatre, so we couldn’t tackle the menu the way we wanted to. My wife chose a selection of starters, while I went for the chicken skewer with rice and salad. The starters arrived first, followed moments later by my main, and wow, the portions were very generous. The starters alone could have fed two or three people easily, and the chicken skewer? Plenty of juicy, chargrilled chicken, enough to share, though I wouldn’t blame anyone for keeping it all to themselves.
The food was absolutely excellent, but we had to admit defeat far sooner than we wanted to thanks to our earlier indulgence. Throughout the evening, Kerem and another gentleman (whose name I wish I’d caught) looked after us brilliantly…….attentive, friendly, and welcoming from start to finish.
Fantastic service, amazing food, great drinks, and very reasonable prices. We may have lost this round to the portion sizes, but we’ll definitely be back to finish what we started!
Overall: ★★★★★ An excellent experience all round. Whether you’re visiting the area or a local looking for your new favourite spot, we can’t recommend this...
Read moreMy friends and I visited this restaurant for dinner, and the experience was a mix of highs and lows. The service was quite slow, despite many staff walking around. It seemed like everyone was more focused on cleaning tables and avoiding eye contact than taking orders. However, I can’t entirely blame them – every staff member looked exhausted, as if they had been working double shifts for weeks. That said, the waitresses were very kind and helpful when they did attend to us, and the lack of a service charge on the bill might explain the slower pace.
As for the food, it was okay but not memorable. We started with garlic mushrooms and cheese aubergine with pita, which were quite tasty. For mains, the spinach ravioli was overly milky with little flavor, though I didn’t mind as I enjoy milk-based dishes. The mixed grill was decent, though a bit too salty, and the salad had an overwhelming amount of onion. The rib-eye steak was tender and flavorful, but it was cooked medium-rare instead of the requested medium, with the middle still bleeding slightly. The accompanying salad also had too much onion, but the fries were enjoyable.
For dessert, the Goccia al Pistacchio was a highlight – rich and delicious. On the other hand, the crème brûlée was disappointing, with a bland flavor and an unappealing, thick texture that felt more like scooping butter than enjoying a dessert.
Drinks were reasonably priced. I enjoyed a whisky (though it came with ice despite being ordered neat) and a French martini.
Overall, the meal filled us up, but nothing stood out enough to make me want to return. The tired atmosphere and inconsistencies in service and food quality made it an average...
Read moreThis restaurant is not wheelchair friendly and it appears all the good reviews seem to come from tourists which is the main clientele of this restaurant and not locals.
We were seated at our table and the staff came with our drinks quite quickly as we all had cocktails which normally takes longer to prepare.
The server recommended a beef chop? Which was meant to be their signature dish. It was the most horrendous t-bone steak I've ever had in my life. Not only was the piece of steak like leather, it was completely flavourless. It was served on a side of salad and greasy fries.
When the server came to clear our plates, she asked how was our meal and we explained that despite the highly recommended beef chop, it was flavourless and extremely disappointing. Not only did she not apologise for the experience, she came out with excuses about the kitchen being busy and then said if we didn't enjoy our meals we should have notified them at the beginning of our meals and not a the end.
She clearly has never worked in the service industry before.
Whilst the restaurant / dining area was tidy. The ladies lavatory (which was on the 3rd floor) was vile. There were no toilet paper in the holders, the door lock didn't work and the floor was wet with paper strewn across it.
Not only would we not be back at this restaurant again, we will tell all our friends about our experience too. We gave the restaurant an opportunity to rectify the situation and an apology would've suffice but this has left a terrible taste in our...
