Urban Baristas - New Cross Gate — Restaurant in London

I was exploring around New Cross Gate when I spotted Urban Baristas, and this turned out to be the prettiest location I’ve been to so far. The space is bright, open, and full of natural light thanks to all the big windows. It immediately gives off a calm, easy vibe.

It’s not a particularly busy spot, which means plenty of seats and a relaxed atmosphere. There was only one person running the counter when I visited, but since it wasn’t crowded, service moved smoothly. The staff was friendly too, which added to the pleasant feel of the place.

It’s definitely a nice spot to open your laptop and hang out for a while. The crowd felt young and local, probably thanks to the nearby art school. There’s password protected guest wifi with good speed, and even the bathroom is spacious and clean.

Nice space and the staff seem friendly enough but met a friend there for lunch and had a fairly disappointing experience. Extremely limited savoury food selection to choose from (couple of quiches/some prepacked focaccias) served without any cutlery on a paper tray. Cakes served in paper bags, despite eating in and only takeaway cups for the coffees too. Also there's no water made available which is unusual for a good coffee shop, then for some reason we were given a ration of half a cup only between us when we asked for some water. I would maybe get a takeout coffee and cake again as both were good but wouldn't visit again to sit in. Maybe just teething problems as I realise it's a new site for them, but if they want to make this space work they really need to review the sit in and...
