My experience of this place was not good. I went with three friends for afternoon tea with a Wowcher deal. Service was very poor considering the place was pretty empty and there were a lot of staff flittering around.
My friends arrived before me and told me that on arrival no one greeted them after standing at the entrance for a while, so in the end they seated themselves. When I arrived, after 10 mins of me sitting down no one had come to our table to see to us so I had to go to the bar to get some attention.
The communication with staff is poor. There was a misunderstanding with what one of the waiters said and he was also quite rude.
The afternoon tea itself was measly. Four finger sandwiches per person and a few tiny cakes - the food tasted okay but some of the bread on the sandwiches was starting to turn dry. We actually had to order food from the main menu to fill the gaps left in our tummies.
When we finished eating no one came to clear our table. We were there for a good hour after we'd finished and two of my friends had already left. The table was not cleared and I really don't understand why as there were a lot of staff in the place. There is clearly no attention being paid to customers or their needs.
Perhaps I came on a bad day as there are many other reviews on here that are really good, which is the reason I chose to go there. I feel deceived.
The best thing about this afternoon tea was the two bottles of prosecco we had with the offer we got (hence the 2 stars, otherwise it'd be 1). Other than that this place was a waste of time. I didn't need to travel there for that.
I would seriously suggest that management review the way this place is run and who is staffing it, as in my opinion if its that bad when the place is practically empty, you've got big problems...
Read moreI am not one to normally leave a nad review, I like to give companies the chamce to explain and redeem themselves but in this instance i have no problem as when we tried to address the issue we were fobbed off with I ahve only just come on shift. For someone in a supervisory capacity that should not matter as the should be apprised of what is happening with customers at all times. I have given a 1 star as there isn't an option for no stars. This is the worst Afternoon tea I have ever had. The food was passable when it it finally arrived. We were seated for 1 hour and had to ask where our food was. 20 minutes after being thanked for reminding the waitress still no food. My daughter who works in hospitality asked for a manager and got a supervisor who suddenly appeared with the food. Whilst we were waiting there were 3 or 4 serving staff standing around chatting. The service bell had rung 3 times and no one went to see what was to bring out. People who arrived after us were served food before we were, I could understand if we were there for a banquet but 8 finger sandwiches 2 scones and 6 cakes does not take 1 hour to prepare. Even if it does what is unforgivable is the lack of apology or communication. When we did eventually get our food no checkback to see if everything was OK. Customer service at it's very worst. My advixe to anyone who is hungry is do npt go here because you will still be hungry at least 1 hour later. This experience marred what shoukd have been a pleasant afternoon....
Read moreOn my remote working days which are normally 2 days a week, I try to find nice cowarking cafes in london and work from there! Like many others i went to this cafe today. I ordered some food around 12.30 in the afternoon and started working! Was working till 5.30 when this guy came and introduced himself as director of operations and told me that he is watching me sit here whole day and ordering nothing. When i told i ordered food in the afternoon he started explaining i am using electricity wifi and need to spend minimum £10/ hour to sit and work there. Then when I stopped him and told him £10/hour is too much and i wont normally spend that much to work from a workable cafe! He saw the situation might turn wrong , he started explaining what he is doing to make the ambience better for everyone that come and work and also introduce some membership! But when I asked what should be the minimum spend now, be said atleast £10 per hour! The way he approached , i found very rude and unprofessional! He was on duty on feb 27, 2024 around 5.30 pm! I think there should be clear rule mentioned and needs to be informed before a customer enters a cafe that he needs to spend £10/hour to sit and work! Also I highly believe, this rule is not for everyone and the guy targeted me for some reason, i don’t know the reason though! I would request the management to look into this matter and inform guests before hand if there is such rules! I found it highly de gratifying...
