Went in with so many expectations, walked away humbled.
Honestly the hype of this place lured my friend and I finally and perhaps our high hopes may have been the reason for our disappointment.
I do have to say, the service and staff were amazing, so this doesn’t apply to them- they were very accommodating, prompt, attentive, and helpful.
Firstly the cocktails were very mediocre and they cost way more than they’re worth frankly. Bland, watered down tastes - didn’t even want to finish them. We tried two different ones and they basically tasted the same.
For one chicken leg starter, it was almost a tenner. So naturally we assumed it would be large enough to share. Nope. Tiny thing which tasted like something I’ve cooked in an air fryer before. We tried to add chilli oil, sesame oil and seasoning and it somehow made the taste BLANDER ?! Very confusing.
The ramen- we tried the Uzumaki and The Glazed Beef one (forget the name). Mine (the beef) tasted like bog-standard instant noodles. I had to spice it up with a few things (on the table) and it just AGAIN tasted like something I could have made, and made better, at home! My friend was also unimpressed.
We got a side of seaweed, which was overpowering but still quite tasty. Only thing we tried that deserved praise. It worked as more of a palate cleanser when my friend and I switched plates.
We finished with boba teas, that was reminiscent of plastic. It gave the flavour of perfumes????
The worst part was when the bill arrived and it had added up to £100. It definitely felt like a rip off.
When we saw the place and menu we had decided we would come back every other week to try every dish. We obviously regretted that by the end and unfortunately never want to visit again. Once was enough.
I don’t really recommend this place. It is just a fad, so maybe if you want to say you visited then give it a go, otherwise give it a miss and cook some...
Read moreMyself and my 15 year old Anime obsessed son had dinner at Uzumaki on Wednesday evening at 5pm. First thing to note is how close it is to Tottenham Court Road station, it was very conveniently located and easy to find. The shop front it lit up with neon signs! From the minute we entered we were treated fantastically by the staff. The person at the front desk (sorry I didn’t catch your name) was super friendly and very smiley, offering us a very warm welcome. We were seated immediately, and were struck by the AMAZING anime mural which covered every wall. We had a lot of fun looking around and trying to spot our favourites. Anime music was playing throughout the meal which was fun and my son particularly enjoyed this.
Onto the food and drinks…
I ordered the Chopper Colada, it was delicious, the pineapple juice tasted fresh and the rum flavour really came through. My son had a large One Punch chocolate boba, which he really enjoyed.
We were really keen to try as much as we could so we ordered a bowl of Uzumaki ramen each, the broth was delicious, meat was tender and the egg was the star of the show, we had a Toge Salmon Onigiri each, the flavour was good but I will say it was a little dry, we also shared a portion of the Food Wars! Karaage, this was so crispy and flavourful, and finally one Pirate King Meat On The Bone, wow the tenderness and saturated flavours was spot on (also made us laugh that on the receipt it was down as “Luffy Meat”)
There’s a small shop at the entrance, and I bought my son a Uzumaki chopstick set with spoon for £16.
A special shout out to our waitress Rita for amazing service and winning smile 😊 we will definitely be returning, and we can’t wait to try out the rest of the...
Read moreCustomer service was amazing and very accommodating to children. One of the waiters let my nephew put on the Naruto jacket and take photos. Also very helpful on deciding what's good to eat or drink their advice was spot on.
Starters were really good the chicken karage was delicious crispy and tender. Both chicken and vegetable gyoza were really nice I preferred the vegetable one much more. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the main dish the ramen wasn't great in my opinion. I found it very salty and the chicken looked and tasted like it was boiled. My nephew seemed to like it but he's a ramen fanatic. Desert I would say was even better than the starters the chocolate mochi was the best one out of them all and the bubble teas are exceptional. Chocolate or tiramisu bubble teas were both amazing and the tapioca wasn't too chewy but also not too sweet. My nephew had the mango bubble tea which was also great. If you want something to drink ocean bomb orange in my opinion was the best flavour compared to white grape or peach. I didn't try the others. It's basically a sparkling drink.
Lastly the gift store was really cool a little small but lots of decent stuff to buy as souvenirs to take back with you. I would recommend one of the lamps but it costs £26.
Overall I would say it's the perfect experience for Naruto lovers and kids. It accommodates Muslims as well with halal ramen and halal chicken. It is a bit pricy to be honest so I would say it's more of a treat or experience you do once or once in a while.
P.s. be prepared to use chopsticks they don't give knife, forks etc. But you get a spoon...
