Vaulty Towers is a truly unique and eccentric pub located on Lower Marsh in Waterloo, London. It's run by the same creative minds behind The Vaults, the underground arts venue beneath Waterloo station, and this theatrical connection is evident in its decor and atmosphere. The pub is filled to the brim with quirky and imaginative decorations, props, and set pieces from previous theatrical productions. You'll find a random yet charming assortment of furniture and unconventional seating arrangements. Expect to discover distinct and surprising nooks, including a raised "hide," a fantastical "Pink Cave," and even a table within a "treehouse" accessible by a small staircase. You might find yourself sitting on a giant sparkly crescent moon or behind camouflage netting. The decor has a deliberately gaudy and homemade quality, adding to its unique charm rather than feeling slick or overly designed. Expect to see random signs and props that contribute to the fun vibe. While specific food details vary, Vaulty Towers offers "creative bar eats" to accompany their drinks. They serve a range of beverages, including craft beers (with local options), and a diverse selection of spirits. Notably, they often have cocktails on tap, such as espresso martinis and draft Negronis, sometimes served from quirky contraptions. They also offer boozy slushies.
In essence, Vaulty Towers offers a fun, vibrant, and wonderfully odd pub experience. Its connection to the theatrical world and its commitment to creating a unique and engaging space make it a popular spot in the...
Read moreMy friend and I visited Vaulty Towers near Waterloo Station on a Friday evening for some drinks, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. The atmosphere was decently crowded, but not overly packed, which made for a comfortable and enjoyable evening.
One of the highlights of Vaulty Towers is its layout, offering the best of both worlds. Upstairs, you'll find ample seating and a space to dance to the music, perfect for those looking to let loose and have fun. Meanwhile, downstairs provides a quieter ambiance, ideal for chatting with friends without having to shout over the noise. This thoughtful design caters to a variety of social preferences.
The pricing here is quite reasonable. A bottle of house white wine cost £26.50, and two gin and tonics were priced similarly, making it a good option for central London.
A notable and wonderful aspect of Vaulty Towers is its very gay-friendly vibe. The inclusive atmosphere ensures everyone feels welcome and at ease.
The standout feature of Vaulty Towers, however, is the team. Every single staff member we interacted with was incredibly friendly and accommodating. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced our experience.
Overall, I definitely recommend Vaulty Towers and would come back again and again. Whether you're looking to dance the night away or enjoy a quiet chat with friends, this place has something...
Read moreFun place and great veg food (there’s nonveg too). My friend and I went here last night (booked a table for 5:45pm) and got a two-seater under the bunting-festooned loft. We ended up staying for 6 hours!!! I got the North African aubergine and the roasted aubergine tacos 🌮. (OK so I love me some aubergine). Both were delicious, although the former could have been a bit hotter temperature-wise. The former was sprinkled with a generous amount of seasoning and crunchy seeds and plenty of tahini. It was a nice-size medium aubergine as well. The tacos are mini tacos and whilst I was disappointed they were fried shells, they were bursting with a soft aubergine and pepper filling that had me licking my fingers. The bar’s sweet potato fries are also AWESOME and I’m picky on my sweet potato fries. Charred just right and with a flavorful seasoning, I gobbled they up. My friend said her chicken wings were quite spicy. We got diet cokes to start and then I had 2 glasses of sauv blanc (decent) and she tried each of the frozen drinks in the blender (lychee and passion fruit). I’ve never been a frozen drinks person but I have to say these are quite tasty (and strong). Thought at £7 for a teeny glass I thought a bit too much.
But the soundtrack is amazinnng. Fun 80s, 90s and early...
