Fairly new place on Lower Marsh in competition with another sushi spot less than 15 metres away. I walked by one as i live in the area. They were having tasters for people to try and come and support. I however was in a rush but told him ill be back mayne in a week or two. He replied great and as you are a local we will apply your local resident discount. I said even better.
Fast fwd 2 weeks. My family of 3 & I show up around 745 for dinner. The place is quite empty i think only 2 other tabkes were seated. Menus arrive we take a look and proceed to put in an order.
We asked if it was possible for a substitution in one of the ramen dishes which the reply was sorry we cant. We were ok with it but didnt hurt to ask (my wife is a pescatarian and we were asking if they could replace the pork with prawns) so we order it anyway and i ended up eating thr pork slices.
We asked if the chili chicken ramen could be made not spicy so just a chicken ramen in which he replied yes we can do that. Great one non chili chicken ramen please. Fyi im pointing to the item on the menu.
We order some sides and i order for myself there more expensive of the Ceviche which is the mixto that supposedly come with tuna, salmon & yellowtail.
The sides and the ceviche arrived first. I look at the ceviche dish and can clearly see the tuna a few pieces of salmon but absolutely no yellowtail. I call the waiter over and explain to him that this dish has NO yellowtail and was he sure this was the mixto that i ordered.
He replied with yes thats the mixto buy we have run out of the yellowtail. My response "were you not going to tell me that there wasnt any yellowtail hoping or expecting not to notice it" He apologized, in which i replied its fine but go ahead and charge me the cheaper price as you haven't presenting me a mixto but will be charging me for one.
The wife's tonkotsu comes out and the dish looked the part as you can see in the picture but, again our expectation of getting what you ordered was such a let down. It tasted so off the scale of what a tonkotsu broth should be. Truthfully all it really had of a tonkotsu was the colour. So bad and so bland.
Out comes the " non chili chicken ramen" the managed to achieve the non chili part but it was a stir fry dish with all type of veg and ginger and greens. We told the waitress (not the waiter) who was in charge of bringing us the dishes that this is not what we ordered. She takes the dish away and about a minute later the waiter comes back slightly like very undertoning and says "chicken noodle". I said no we ordered the non chili chicken pointing at the item again in which he replied chicken noodle and placed the plate on the table. Now it wouldn't have been a problem if the noodles were edible as far as tasting goes for my children but, it wasnt to their likings so we had 1st off wait for ever to get extra bowls so i could pick out all the veg and see if she would eat it...then after that she still didnt like it so the wife and i agreed to just order the correct dish this time. So we order the non chili chicken ramen (yes again pointing at the item) about 10 minutes later the dish comes out its basically the same tonkotsu meal my wife had but with out pork replaced with with a piece of fried panko chicken (the type you get with a katsu curry ...to help paint a picture) Chicken looking and sounding very crispy i proceed to prepare a dish for my little one with the noodles from the order and the pieces of chicken. Mind you my daughter loves fried chicken. Im eating my meal and notice that my girl isnt eating the chicken. I asked "why arent you eating the chicken?" My wife replied " she said the chicken was hard" In my head im thinking the crispyness of the panko might be too crunchy for my daughter,so i go to cut it into smaller pieces. Kid you not im struggling to cut piece by piece and then question whats going on here. I grab a piece of chicken take a bite. RAW on thr inside. Grab another piece RAW...and another and another. There was one little piece at the end...
Read moreI recently visited Love Sushi in Waterloo, and I had a very good experience because of the service from Iris. She was so friendly and welcoming from the beginning, with a big smile that made us feel very comfortable. She has a very kind and professional attitude, and it really impressed me.
Iris was very patient with us when we asked questions about the menu. She explained everything very clearly and also gave us some recommendations. We tried her suggestions, and they were all delicious! It showed us that she really knows the menu well and cares about helping customers.
Even though the restaurant was busy, Iris never forgot about us. She checked on us at the right times and made sure we had everything we needed. I really liked how she was always paying attention but never made us feel rushed. It made the whole meal very relaxing...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Love Sushi in Waterloo with my partner, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The service was incredibly warm and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was outstanding – high-quality ingredients, deliciously fresh, and generous portions. The quality-to-price ratio was excellent, offering great value for the experience.
What really stood out was the manager, who took the time to come over at the end of our meal to check in with us. He asked if we enjoyed our time there and let us know he hoped to see us again soon, which added a personal and thoughtful touch to the evening.
Overall, we felt very welcomed and well taken care of. We will definitely be...
