[Egg & Sesame Mayo] £4.5 and it’s worth it.
The ingredients of this dish are as simple as its name: 1 medium-boiled eggs, sesame mayo sauce, and a drizzle of spicy oil.
The glossy beige sauce was so tempting I had to taste it before anything else. The first sensation on the tip of my tongue was saltiness, followed by a subtle umami depth. Almost instantly, the nutty aroma of sesame took over - smooth and rich tahini’s fragrance coated my mouth.
Then I broke open the eggs. The softness of the whites and the creaminess of the perfectly half-boiled yolks reminded me, after all, this was “just egg with mayo.”
But there was more to it - the eggs weren’t warm, but they weren’t fridge-cold either—the temperature was just right. This is the detail that revealed the care in their preparation. Finally, a faint tanginess peeked through, balancing the richness of the sesame. And the spicy oil tied everything together, adding a delicate, fragrant lift without overwhelming heat.
This is my second visit to Yuki Bar. We ordered the eggs again without hesitation and we’ll be coming back for that again. Arigatou,...
Read moreSecond time attending, first time was sharing wine with a friend, this time was solo after work looking to relax and dine. Server who took care of wine duties guided me through the "by the glass" offering, her description of a red guided me away from my usual orange wine and it was frankly perfect for the weather. Juicy, the acidity was quite literally sparkling despite it not being a sparkling wine, and an ideal refresher for the hot & humid weather. For food, decided to let chef pick menu items he felt might suit me; they asked how hungry I was and went from there. My awful photography does not do justice to how good everything was. High level ingredients, handled simply but expertly. Egg mayo, aubergine and potato, seabass and mustard greens, dumplings, hake and lentil stew/curry, grilled onigiri in dashi. Each plate was perfect progression from the previous, and I was stuffed by the end. And I'm a big eater. Thank you to the team, and to anyone who's read this far, I cannot recommend this...
Read moreYuki Bar is a charming little spot that’s perfect for wine lovers. The natural wine selection is absolutely fantastic, thoughtfully curated and always offering something interesting and unique. Whether you’re a seasoned wine drinker or just getting into it, there’s something for everyone here. What really makes this place stand out is the warm hospitality of the owner, Yuki san. He has a wonderful presence and makes you feel genuinely welcome. His care and attentiveness create a relaxed, homey atmosphere that’s rare to find in London. The food is a selection of small Japanese-style plates, which are enjoyable though fairly standard. They complement the wine nicely, but the real highlight here is the drinks and the overall vibe rather than the dishes themselves. If you’re looking for a cozy, laid-back evening with great wine and lovely people, Yuki Bar is a solid choice. It’s a place you’ll want to return to, not just for what’s in your glass, but for how it...
