Rude Employee - Expensive Food
I have been a regular at Zaha throughout my first and second year of university, so I am sure that the employees are very well accustomed to seeing my face. On this one occasion, my friend got Zaha and I met him there with my food. I was aware that one can't bring outside food into a restaurant so I sat thinking for a while of what to order at Zaha in order to sit there. Whilst I was thinking one of the employees comes over, the chap with glasses and a cap on backwards, and starts telling me off in front of the whole restaurant, as if I am back in school. I found this EXTREMELY rude and I appreciate that if he asked me politely about my outside food, I would have told him my situation, apologise and that I will order something. However this was not the case and I left the restaurant both extremely embarrassed and miserable, especially after the fact that I used to eat here every week for a whole 2 years straight and even put my friends on it.
The food at Zaha is good however at the price point of £10-£12 for a rice/salad box - it is definitely not worth it. Especially for something which one can easily replicate at home. They offer a student discount but you only really save pennies and not once have me and my friends been given any superior service for being regulars.
Do yourself a favour and go to leather lane market just down the road. Will find the same food - if not better at half of the price point.
Very disappointed the way I was treated and the extortionate prices they are...

Food: They serve a variety of options, including; naan rolls, rice bowls, salad bowls, and biriyani too! Their street-sides include hummus&naan chips (haven't seen this anywhere else), mini samosas (so so cute), falafels, chickpea chaat and loads more. The meat is freshly grilled to serve and you can immediately tell from taste that these are family owned recipes; not basic at all. There are loads of different home-made sauces available; each uniquely catering to different taste-buds.
The quality of food served is self-explanatory with their corn-fed chicken, grass-fed Cornwall lamb and locally sourced fresh vegetables. The prices are extremely reasonable, if not cheap, for what you get.
Drink: My absolute favourites are their home-made Mango Lassi (yogurt drink) and Karak Chai (spiced tea). Both of which I crave for the next day.
Customer Service: The guys who run the place are really social, friendly and attentive to their customers. You can tell they really care about the service they're providing.

Read moreGot a chicken bowl, which includes a choice of veg, salad, rice and sauce. Also grabbed a chicken wrap, again with a choice of sauces and veg.
The assistants serving were friendly and efficient. They did look tired too presumably after a busy lunch period.
For the bowl, the chicken tasted okay but nothing really to shout about. Wasnt particularly juicy or even tender. Again, the salad tasted okay but can tell they are not prepared fresh. Or atleast was no longer fresh by the time I made an order.
The wrap did taste good however, and the combination of everything made it a decent meal. The size of the wrap though is quite small.
The prices for a combined £20 though is pretty steep and as mentioned the wrap is quite small. The bowl does have a decent portion, but didn’t taste great.
There are a lot of competitors for your wraps and bowls in the area and I just think there are better placed shops that can compete better with slightly more attractive pricing and...
