ZUZU BISTRO BAR — Restaurant in London

This place looks like a million bucks at a first glance. Lots of decorations, gas fire place inside, expensive food... There was even a man (the owner?) nicely dressed in a suit, greeting the guests.

But when you looked more closely, it all felt fake. The "nice" decorations were all plastic and quite tacky. The bathroom looked like it belonged in a fast food shack. And the nicely dressed man turned out to not be so service minded after all...

We ordered two "Chicken Burgers with Peri-Peri". When we got the food we didn't feel any spice at all, so we opened up the burger and noticed we had gotten the wrong ingredients in our burgers. Our burgers were supposed to have red onions and of course the peri-peri sauce, but instead we got "yellow" onions and pickles (and no peri-peri), which was the ingredients of another burger.

We talked to the waitress about this, but she said she was new at the job, so she called for another waitress. That waitress couldn't understand what was wrong with our burgers, even when reading the menu and comparing it with our burger. So she called for the "nicely dressed man".

He couldn't understand either. Noone seemed to know the menu, noone seemed to be able to LOOK at the burger and see that it had the wrong ingredients. They should have known immediately when ours had pickles and "yellow" onions that it was the wrong ingredients. Instead they made us feel like this was our fault, and that we were only complaining. After some arguing the man asked "So, you want more pickles?" "Noooo, we want peri-peri sauce!" We didn't even bother with the right onions at that time. So he went and got one miiiiiini portion of peri-peri sauce and put it by my plate. None for my husband, so we had to share that small amount.

But the worst thing was that there was NO apology, NO taking responsibility, NO trying to make it up to us in any way.

So yeah, we will never eat...

I had an awful experience from a very unprofessional and misogynistic man today. I asked for a recommendation of a sweet white wine, I got given a dessert wine, not what I asked for and in my opinion, disgusting. So I sent it back and asked for a white wine instead, the woman serving us was so lovely and this review is not a reflection of her at all she did her job and I honestly believe it was a miscommunication issue between us. This man pictured below came back and put the drink I sent back in front of me, “I believe this is yours?” He got very nasty as soon as he approached us, I told him politely I didn’t like it and it wasn’t what I requested. Eventually he left, when we paid at the end I asked for his name, he leant over the till and with a smug smile said “why? So you can complain about me” I explained my complaint to him and how it made my whole party feel really uncomfortable the way he acted and spoke to me and we left after that drink instead of continuing our night and ordering food and more drinks. He told me (as he was standing next to our waitress) she is a woman, she is wrong and she has done bad, come to a man next time”. This escalated my frustration and I told him that she was very lovely and my complain is about him and not the waitress that served us. She looked upset by this comment and it hurt to see. I made it clear to him how ugly his comment was and he told me “I hate customers like you who put on a show” bare in mind I didn’t raise my voice once. I left the restaurant really upset and annoyed. I hope this girl doesn’t go through this or...

All seemed well at first but we soon realised otherwise. The older gentleman in the suit with the grey hair this waiter completely ruined our visit his customer service was terrible and if he is a long standing waiter I'm surprise the business has survived.

He was patronising, telling us to remember our orders based on experiences he had had with other customers in the past (which is not our problem or what he experienced with us), he told us we couldn't have our mains and starters together when we asked because of complaints he had had in the past (again not us and this is what we the customers were asking for). He told our table to be quiet very rudely and actually had the audacity to say we were lucky that the restaurant wasn't busy and we're able to laugh and joke. When I told no I'm not lucky to be dining here this is normal restaurant hospitality and we were not lucky by spending over £500 at their establishment he said he didn't need our business basically and had a table of 44 guests before.

I would recommend soft drinks over cocktails they were not nice minus the pornstar martini's. I will never return to this restaurant again after this experience and recommend if are in the area wanting Turkish go to Lokma about 5minutes walk away.

I will end by saying there was a female waiter who that one star rating was for. An Asian lady I believe, I hope that therestaurant recognises your hospitality. She was so polite and I'm sorry I didn't get your name because you are the saving grace for that...
