Visited Ashas yesterday and experienced the worst service ever which I am completely shocked about. After waiting for an extremely long time for our mains to arrive I found a hair in one of our curries. I called over the waiter and asked if I could speak to the manager (bald man on the right in the picture). Upon arrival he looked at me in disgust and went "what?" which I was shocked about. He did not even make any eye contact and was not even paying attention whilst was talking to him. He accused of me of lying and was not sorry at all for the disgusting hygiene standards we were presented with. He did not even offer us another dish like any other restaurant would usually do and instead spoke to us like we were a piece of dirt. This man has awful customer service and is definitely not fit enough to be a manager, I am extremely disappointed in his behaviour as he also turned all his staff against us as their behaviour towards us instantly changed and I must say that he is a complete let down to the franchise. Please save yourself the money and avoid going here as they will ruin your night. Would definitely not recommend. P.S. To the bald manager in Ashas Manchester please refrain from replying with your copy and pasted message as you are doing with many of the negative reviews you have received because you were not willing to speak to us in person so there is definitely no chance of us discussing this matter over email.

Easily Manchester’s finest authentic Indian fine dining experience. This a place that you can feel at ease decked out in your finest Kanjaveeram Zari sari resplendent in the yards of tastefully gold embroidery. Diamonds as per Asha’s hobby, are optional. The environs are deceptively Tardis like, with street entrance giving no inclination of the depths within. My sampling of the food indicated that the flavours would pass muster for even those who’s only introduction to subcontinental food was that dished out at their local takeaway. Therein likes the conundrum. Indian food with its abundance of spices and heat, does not lend itself to finer nuances of food providence. There are some concession to local expectations. For example, the abundance of breast cuts of chicken in preference to more flavourful dark meat. Therefore from a choice and price point, it might be argued that Indian Tiffin Room has better offerings from a purely culinary point of view. Varied offerings are not without risk and Asha’s rises to that challenge. There’s a new tasting menu on offer which looks promising. I saw many dinners ordering lobster cooked with Indian spices, which piqued my interest. The front of house are very affable, attentive and knowledgeable about the food. All in all, a restaurant worthy of a brimful of Asha on the 45.

Lovely experience. Got all we wanted...and more than expected from what was our 15th Anniversary lunch. Absolutely loved ourselves for picking Asha's to celebrate. Our first time there we booked early but had an afterthought, today being the reopening day after a few weeks break post their Christmas rush. But..were given no opportunity to regret..it was a splendid welcome, confirmed full menu service right on arrival, plus we were pampered with attention from Shivraj throughout. Extremely pleased by the service. He struck nice little enjoyable conversations, made us feel special and welcome. Drinks were awesome, had a few speciality cocktails. Berry Martini, a Hot Rita short, complimented the amristari fish and chilli garlic prawns splendidly well. Main course was equally enjoyable, perfect portions of rogan josh lamb curry, naan and roti. No oversized surprises, thanks again to Shivraj's timely tips and managing expectations at time of the order. Overall a lovely afternoon, memorable experience perfect for the occasion. All thanks again to Shivraj and his team in the kitchen for thoughtfully gifting us a complimentary decorated dessert, adoringly embellished! Absolutely enjoyed that bit. Would certainly go again!

The worst dining experience ever. I visited this restaurant with my family as a graduation celebration, little did we know it would turn into the worst place for a celebration.

Right from the moment we were seated, the manager had made comments and was very unfriendly. From the start the service was terrible, it was obvious the manager had told his staff to make sure they provided us with the worst service they possibly could.

As we went for a celebration, we asked the waitress to bring out the cake with the sparklers (that we provided) at the end of our meal to which they agreed. The quickly changed their mind and left us sat at the table for 45mins after telling us the cake will be brought out. Had we not gone up to ask, we would’ve been sat there all night.

The waitress eventually bought out the cake- the cake still in it’s original box and dumped it on the table. When questioned, the managers response was ‘you didn’t pay service charge so we didn’t want to bring out the cake’

Can honestly say it was the worst experience, it was a waste of our time, our money and ruined the surprised for my sister who was there to celebrate her graduation. She was left in tears by the end of the night.

The matter was not resolved, the manager simply walked away.

His name was given- Xavier Bastin, I believe his actual name is Sudheer Bastian.

AVOID...

Popadoms were nice with lovely dips. The spinach leaf starter was also nice but the batter it was fried in lacked flavour. Waiter forgot my cocktail and brought one that we didn't order. Also charged us for a drink that never came (All got resolved which was great) Unfortunately, the mutton curry pressure cooker main was extremely salty and overpowering in flavour. Luckily the waiter was kind enough to change it for a lamb Kari. The Kari had an unusual sweet creamy taste, which isn't traditional of this type of curry. As it was my birthday I didn't want to say any more and spoil the evening. For £24 (no rice or sides included) I wouldn't say the curry was worth it. I've had traditional Kari's for the fraction of the price elsewhere and they were very tasty. For a restaurant that prides itself on traditional cooking, I wouldn't say any of what i had spoke of that. I am of Asian descent so I understand how things should be. I really wish traditional home style rice and curry was served, instead of creating dishes to fit the English Palette. This was a very disappointing birthday meal, as I had heard great things. I wouldn't come here again unless things can be improved. You are basically paying to sit in a lovely venue with average style cooking that's not that traditional. I will be returning to Dishoom which did...
