DosaXpress — Restaurant in Manchester

Never thought I'd be compelled to write this review but I have never seen such display of pathetic service.

We arrived near the closing time and had confirmed on call before to be sure it won't be an issue. Sat at an available table since there was no one at the reception to greet ( even after waiting for a few minutes) and the restaurant was all empty. The waiting staff asked us to sit elsewhere and when I think of it now, I cannot understand the logic. Anyway, once we ordered and were served, we were given our bill mid-way since the restaurant was closing. We had no issues at first but asked if we could return a can of drink we didn't even use. The server was so adamant about not changing the bill since it was already issued (still cannot understand the logic). Next we asked him that we saw a deal on their instagram page about a discount and would like to avail it, the server declined and said that he cannot do it once the bill is issued. It was so rude given that we didn't ask the bill ourselves and was straight away handed to us. How could've we anticipated the timing of the bill and informed him in advance? Additionally, we asked several times to lower the volume of the speaker but no action was taken. Again, we were the only customers so I cannot even imagine if it was because of rush hours.

If you cannot take in more customers, why do you even agree on allowing them to be served during the closing time? We could've gone elsewhere and had a good time at dinner rather than experiencing such...

Response to the restaurant - I visited on 10th June between 2pm and 4pm. Paid around £30 cash as you don't take card payment. Whether it was beef or mutton biryani I don't 100% remember but it was a cold outdated food you served my husband and made him sick. It was my husband who wanted non-veg food. I had the dosa, chickpeas, paratha and dahi-puri. Accusing me of fake review and what will I get from it? I am simply using this platform to let others know what my experience was. Your waiter didn't even want to clean a dirty table I asked him to clean. Instead he was confrontational. Disgrace!

Unclean and unprofessional. I only went here for lunch because Sanskruti was closed till 5pm and I fancied South Indian food. My expectation wasn't high as I have been here before. Unfortunately the place has taken a downward toll even further. I asked for the table to be cleaned as I could see marks and bits on the table. The waiter was confrontational and said he cleaned it. Later he said I can move tables. If this table was dirty why would the others be clean? We continued with lunch as I didn't want to spoil the lunch with my husband. He has asked for recommendations from the waiter as he doesn't like South Indian food. He was recommended a beef biryani. The biggest mistake. The biryani looked like pilau rice and it was cold. We recently decided to try Dosa Express, drawn in by the promise of savory South Indian cuisine. Our first order was a kids' dosa, which was satisfactory, paired with a sambar that boasted a great taste, making for a decent start. However, the chutneys served alongside were a letdown - still cold and lacking in flavor, which was disappointing.

Eager to explore more of the menu, we then ordered the chicken kothu paratha. It was acceptable, but didn't quite hit the mark in terms of flavor or excitement. Encouraged by the mixed experiences, we ventured further and opted for the mutton kothu paratha, hoping for a redemption of sorts. Unfortunately, this dish was not just a disappointment but a regrettable choice. Shortly after consuming it, we experienced severe discomfort, feeling nauseous and ultimately suffering from upset stomachs. This experience was far from what we had hoped for and has profoundly impacted our view of Dosa Express.

While the idea of exploring a variety of dishes was appealing, the reality left us in distress.
