This was my 2nd visit to NUR cafe

On my first visit, I tried their breakfast options with my friends, the shakshuka could’ve been better had it been more savoury since the tomatoes made it a little too sweet and the bread that accompanied it should’ve been fresh and warm.

However the Eggs Benedict and the Spinach and Mushroom toast were really good, no complaints for that.

I also loved their iced pistachio latte and signature Spanish latte, that’s something I would always return for along with the desserts. I think NUR cafe has some of the best desserts with so much variety in the deansgate area. The kunafa cheesecake and pistachio milk cake were my favourite that day, the chocolate cake was good too but a bit too sweet for my liking.

On the second day which was a week later, we decided to try their lunch menu items. I once again ordered their signature iced latte which was just as I remembered it, this shows that they are consistent in their quality. We also ordered a Mexican rice with chicken and beef tacos. I really liked the beef tacos, just wish the beef was seasoned slightly more and that it came with some sauce to dip in, the chips that accompanied the tacos were really well seasoned and I enjoyed those a lot.

However the Mexican rice with chicken was disappointing in terms of portion size. For £9, I would expect a bigger portion, this dish looked more like an appetiser than a lunch menu item. At least it still tasted good.

For desserts, we once again ordered a pistachio milk cake but this time I also got the pistachio tiramisu. The milk cake was just as good as before but the tiramisu in my opinion was much better, it’s not as sweet, it’s creamy, it has the flavour of coffee and pistachios, it is a well balanced dessert. Definitely my favourite followed by the kunafa cheesecake and then the pistachio milk cake.

They do not have a full list of dessert items on their menu yet so I suggest you check out their desserts by the entrance as they have a full display of everything they serve. It’s also easy to decide on what you want because they present all their desserts really well.

If you didn’t know, this is a fully halal restaurant and I love that the waitresses can wear an abaya as part of their uniform. The servers and the manager are very friendly and try their best to leave you with a smile. They also are open to feedback and suggestions on how they could improve and that is very commendable.

The atmosphere is perfect for family and friends to dine there and I really encourage everyone to try this place out. I will surely...

I’m writing this while still feeling unwell. The food presentation looked nice, but unfortunately the taste and quality were very disappointing. This was my second visit. The first time I came for lunch, the food wasn’t good, but the staff were kind, so I decided to give it another chance after friends told me your desserts were supposed to be better. I ordered an almond croissant and a lemongrass ginger tea. I specifically avoided the other ginger teas because it had honey, which I cannot tolerate due to an intolerance to honey and overly sweet items. Unfortunately, the croissant was extremely disappointing: It was far too sweet and didn’t taste like almond at all.The texture was very dry, and it seemed like it had been baked days ago.It was also burnt underneath. Most importantly, it resembled more of a dense cake than a croissant. If you are serving an adaptation of a croissant, it would be important to mention this on the menu so customers know what to expect. As for the tea, it tasted only of honey in hot water, which again I cannot tolerate. What frustrated me most is that people’s intolerances are not a joke. I ended up with stomach pain because of this. When I tried to explain my concerns, the manager cut me off, offered a refund with an annoyed expression, and didn’t allow me to finish. This made me feel dismissed. For me, this wasn’t about the money, it was about being listened to and about the serious impact intolerances can have. I had wanted to speak more calmly with the manager, but I felt so nauseous that I had to leave quickly to avoid being sick in the café. I rushed straight to the Arndale mall bathrooms. Also, for an expensive cafe (this was 8 pounds) this is a very bad food and service, trying to take medication now so my stomach can settle,...

This was my first time visiting Nur cafe which was highly recommended on tiktok. The brunch was lovely and the drinks were great. Unfortunately, the staff were not very friendly or welcoming and seem to need additional training on front of house etiquette. Upon arrival we were told the menu is on the qr code so as anyone would, all of us use our separate devices to order our food. At no point was it explained to us that if we order like this our food will not arrive at the same time. There seemed to have been some table issues because our table kept receiving items we had not ordered but staff were annoyed at us for saying that’s not what we ordered. This happened multiple times. The waiter with the thick brows was very aggressive with his approach to handling customers and practically scolded me for not eating my food immediately as I was waiting for the rest of my tables food to arrive so we could eat together. The same waiter came over and again, aggressively demanded my friends hadn’t placed an order because they couldn’t find it. Yet they had their drinks which were ordered at the same time. There had been a mixup on the staffs part and they deliver our tables food to someone else. Once everyone’s food arrived my friend was missing part of his meal, it was not rectified even though we mentioned it to the waitress. We were seated close to the door so had front row seats to the mess that was unfolding before us. As customers started accumulating at the door there was no order or organisation to be seen. People were seated in mismatched orders which upset some customers as they’d been waiting longer than others. All this to say, the food was ok, the cafe itself is aesthetically pleasing but the atmosphere was...
