Scene Indian Street Kitchen - Bringing Indian food to life
Thank you for the hospitality that I received when visiting your restaurant last Friday for a pre-theatre meal.
Food and menu
This restaurant has a diverse menu that caters for various diners including Chicken, Lamb, Vegetarian and Fish options.
For Starters they offer sharing platters. The Veggie one includes Veggie Samosas, Onion Bhajis, Paneer and the Asian Potato cake. The Meat Sharing platter includes Chicken Tikka, Lamb and other specialities.
There are also other tasty individual starters on offer such as Prawn Tikka, Calamari and the Chicken and Red Pepper Samosas to name a few.
The Mains consists of favourite curry dishes including Chicken Korma, Tikka Masala, Jalfrezi and others. There are also a selection of Biryani dishes with either Lamb, Chicken or Prawn, If you are a fan of Burgers then they offer Chicken or Lamb burgers with a Samosa inside. If you a fan of the Mixed Grill then that is available too. If you are not a fan of Indian food then there are some pasta dishes included in the mix.
Your meal can also include a range of sides including a selection of Rice, Naan Bread which includes Garlic, Cheese or Meat. Chips are also part of the side dishes too.
The Dessert menu has a great variety of sweet treats from Chocolate Fondant, Sticky Toffee Pudding, Lemon Cheesecake, Biscoff Cheesecake and even a Chocolate Mousse. It caters for all with different levels of sweet lover in mind.
The Vegetarian Platter was beautifully presented. The Vegetarian Samosas were delicious. Crispy buttery pastry on the outside and soft filling with peas and potatoes on the inside. The Paneer was crispy and cheesy in flavour. The Onion Bhajis were full of flavour and were crispy on the outside. The Potato Cake was soft, full of potato and melted in the mouth. The Calamari was tasty and sweet with a dash of honey on top. The Prawn Tikka was delicious, fresh and was tender to eat.
For the Mains the Lamb and Chicken Curry was brilliant. It was full of flavour with nice spices. The combination of Meat and Chicken worked well together and it was tender. The Rice was flavoursome and complemented well with the fragrant Curry. The Garlic Naan was soft, had a great flavour of Garlic and was comforting to eat. The portions are great for sharing at Scene.
The Dessert was beautiful. The Biscoff Cheesecake had a good biscuit base with a bit of a bite. The Caramel was delicious and sweet. The Cream went well with the Cheesecake as it cuts through the rich and indulgence of the Caramel. The addition of Strawberries added an elegant touch to the presentation and also added a refreshing feel to this heavenly sweet treat.
They have a lovely small selection of Mocktails and my favourite is the Strawberry Dream. It is both punchy in flavour and sweet at the same time.
Service
The service was great. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and provided us with great recommendations on food and drink that were spot on. The food came pretty quick without waiting too long.
Lighting and Access
The lighting at this restaurant is OK but we sat near to the window which gave natural light. However, during the Winter the lighting is quite dim so people with a visual impairment may need assistance. Access to the restaurant is good as there are no steps to enter the building and everything is on one floor which helps.
Parking
Parking is available at Byron Street car park which is pay and display but it is free for Blue Badge holders. It is then just a short walk from there. Alternatively you can park at NCP Spinningfields.
Pricing
In general most of the food are reasonably priced apart from some of the dishes that are a bit pricey. Sharing the food however may help if you are trying to reduce costs.

Read moreAs soon as we arrived at the scene we booked a table 2 weeks before we arrived for a very special occasion from another city which took us a 2 hour drive when we arrived and the manager sat us at a table in the back ground behind a very large plant which was very uncomfortable and he was also not professional in his customer service there was no hospitality had to ask another waiter to see if we could be moved as others were situated in a better seating area , waiter was stood over our head constantly telling us to order when we asked for recommendations and he had no clue what to recommend us , which then further confused us so we sent him back twice to Have more time to figure out what we was going to order the food was not what you call authentic indian cuisine , could of had a better curry at akbars , each time the manager and waiters walked by they put their head down and was rude whilst we tried to call them to our table and gain their attention they did not acknowledge us the butter chicken ,was more like bitter chicken to us there really shouldn't put that much spice in a creamy authentic dish at all, took us 15-20mins waiting around to just pay our bill baring in mind we had a time limit on our parking as it was situated in the city centre and had mentioned this twice to waiters who initially looked lost, the scene did not have the friendly atmosphere that an Indian food place should have the waitresses were exhausted and we had to clean up our own table for them , they didn't have the time to take payment for our bill we had to beg then to take it , they were all pre occupied with something else , shortage of staff perhaps? Who knows ? Especially for a place that is that expensive you need to make sure you have the right amount of staff, sadly it got worser as if your anything like my husband who loves his meat and required a tooth pick there was none in this scene so bring your own guys! Terrible experience as a whole will never be returning and to my 70k followers on tiktok and instagram they will surely be sad to know this was not a pass in my books this indeed was very disappointing food tasted off didnt feel well in the morning and wont be coming back sadly. Think twice before booking. Customer service...
Read moreVisited scene recently for an anniversary celebration. Booked online and requested a booth and added that it was an anniversary. Group of 4 adults.
Anyhow arrived was a 3-4 minute wait and was asked to sit on a table not booth then asked if we could have a booth the restaurant was not busy for a weekday so plenty of space seemed like they wanted to keep customers on one side of the restaurant only but anyhow was fine a the member of staff lead us to a booth.
Ordered starters: Chicken malai tikka Lamb chops X 2 samosa chaat Chips
Samosa chaat, chicken malai were lovely and enjoyable. The lamb chops in one portion you are served 3 chops firstly I noticed the size of the chops has reduced therefore much less meat. 2 chops were cooked nicely the 3rd chop was really tough so advised the server of this and was told he’ll get it sorted and I was served another full portion which was made lovely and all chops were nice.
Mains: Chicken dhaba Lamb karahi x2 Garlic naan Keema and cheese kulcha
The mains were lovely the chicken dhaba 10/10 and the lamb karahi was nice but very spicy I would give that a 7/10 we ordered another one but asked to reduce the spice and it was better but I would still give it a 8/10. The naans and kulcha was nice only issue was we were given the booth right at the end and no one was hardly attending to us and had to really keep looking out if we needed anything slightly inconvenient.
The scene is a really lovely restaurant and I have been visiting for many many years I can say 100% that the portions have reduced the starters much much smaller and the mains are now a extremely small portion hence the order for an extra curry because in the past two would easily be enough with some left over to take home.
With drinks they fill them up with ice and lemon so you’re barely getting a drink and have to order more.
Overall worth visiting but is steep compared to other Indian restaurants in Manchester with much smaller portions hope they...
