New King Wah — Restaurant in Newark and Sherwood

Heard only good things about the place, they must have all been wrong. Terrible from start to finish. Drink orders taken and eventually we recieved them, ordered a set menu and one extra dish, starters came out fast which would have been a good thing if they weren’t all tasteless, bland and uninspired, plates were cleared and then began the long wait for mains, just before we were ready to give up hope and ask if there’s any danger of us receiving more food it arrived, but we really wish it didn’t. More bland tasteless meat and veg , the chow mein was one of the worst looking meals my eyes have had the displeasure of seeing. The “Chicken” was strangely moist and shiny and looked like large pieces of onion. It’s a remarkable achievement to make so much food and ingredients taste of absolutely nothing and the final kick in the teeth was the cost , charging as if it’s fine dining when in reality calling it Mediocre would flatter the place. Best advice would be go anywhere else...

I ordered crispy fried beef and my boyfriend had beef with green peppers in black bean sauce. The plates arrived and they were cold. My boyfriend had the best meal it was colourful and tasted good. My crispy fried beef looked anaemic, bland no taste at all and I ended up with a plate of fried batter ( I did see a couple of specks of black in some batter that I presumed was the beef). The waitress came over and asked if the meal was ok and I informed her that mine wasn't, she asked if I wanted her to let the kitchen know and I said yes. I saw her talking to the men standing in the background watching the customers eat, the older one came over and asked if everything was ok and I informed him of the crispy fried batter and he just walked away. Yes I paid the bill but no one mentioned anything about my meal . I would be curious how much meat content there actually was in my meal as the menu is actually false information!! The young waitresses...

So me family usually really enjoy coming here to dine in , we get takeouts to which usually amazing but today, well wasn’t the case.

Was my son’s birthday surprise fron his father. As we entered the young waitresses gave our family a filthy look (My sons partner where joggers so they was comfortable to eat as much as they like but not undressed in anyway) , not what call I Professional and was pretty rude from get go , older staff where lovely but it did ruin the vibe because of younger staff. Prices have risen but not the amount of food , smaller in fact , small shame pun intended (big shame) Need better staff and meals accommodate the price before we even consider...
