Update: dropped down to 4 stars. At least three times recently I've come to visit and it's been closed, when the opening times say they should be open, and no updates are posted on social media. Quite frustrating when you make plans, and the business seems to pick and choose when they open.
Great place to get a HK cafe experience.
The menu has a good selection of HK brunch dishes, street food and drinks, as well as a specials menu inside. The curry fish balls, radish cake and cheung fan were fantastic, and were decently priced.
The positive experience was more than just about the food though. There is a warm and friendly vibe to this place, which you can see when you look at their handmade menus inside, which are filled with fun doodles and useful tips to help you decide (particularly helpful if you're not familiar with the dishes). The staff were very welcoming and friendly. There is also a small selection of board games inside, which is a nice touch.
One thing I wasn't impressed with was the amount of waste though; all food and drink were all served in disposable containers, and there was no recycling bins at the self-serve...

After lunch me and some friends decided to get something sweet so went to pop up wok for dessert. We shared waffles with peanut butter and lemon grass and ice cream with frozen melon balls.
This definitely had some Hong Kong vibes to it, loved the waffles, eggy, nice toasted crust and soft as you bite into it, the peanut butter gave it plenty of flavour, highly recommended.
Ice cream was refreshing, especially after a humid day, love the mellow taste you get from the melon balls complemented with grass jelly and ice cream makes it a perfect dessert.
Not on the picture but I also had Hong Kong milk tea which added to the whole Hong Kong vibe.
They do other lunch food as well so a good option to if you feeling especially hungry.
There's board games for you to play on the shelf and overall a good place to chillax on the weekend
I base my rating on whether I would go there again and I definitely would, 5 stars no problem. If you want a place to chill, with good food and drinks, Pop up Wok is a...
Read moreThe first time my husband and I had dinner at this restaurant, I ordered tomato fried chicken and fishball rice noodles with lemon tea, while he ordered satay chicken steak rice with milk tea, and butter chicken wings. I found the tomato fried chicken steak fishball rice noodles to be excellent. The tomato soup base was rich and flavorful, with a slight spicy kick, and the addition of chicken steak made it very appetizing. However, the satay chicken steak rice was disappointing. The chicken steak lacked taste and was very dry. Although the satay sauce was fragrant, it couldn't save the overall flavor of the dish. On the other hand, the butter chicken wings were delicious. They had a crispy texture and a fragrant buttery flavor.
Regarding the drinks, the iced milk tea and iced lemon tea didn't capture the authentic taste of Hong Kong-style beverages and felt inferior in comparison. The restaurant's environment was clean, and the seats were spacious and comfortable. The menu was lovely and detailed. Keep up...
