Where to begin. What other halal restaurants are the besides indian/curryhouses' in Nottingham?
Well we found Farro's Grillhouse and the menu was looking really promising. Variety of options to choose from, steak, burgers, pizza and even pasta, best of all you can't fault the prices, really decent.
I went for the sizzler beef burger with peri chips, onion rings and an oreo milkshake. My mate went for the American beef burger with sweet potato fries, mash potatoes, onions rings and an oreo milkshake.
So first impressions with our meals. Both burgers were cold, not too cold but cold as if it was already made for a previous customer. Burger was ok but who can really enjoy a cold burger. Nothing really special about the burgers, bog standard really.
Don't go for the peri chips because honestly it's not even worth it. The chips on the top were coated with the slightest amount of peri chips and the rest were basically normal. Don't really know why they were rationing the peri seasoning, must be running out? No idea.
Sweet potato fries are always gonna be 50/50. Its a hit or miss. Well unfortunately he said they weren't it chief. Lacking the sweetness, probably from the local supermarket. The mash potato looked right, but didn't taste fresh, not much seasoning, lumpy as well but you wouldn't tell from sight. Onion rings, bog standard but went really well with the salsa they served, hopefully homemade and not shop bought.
Now the oreo milkshakes. 4 thumbs down. Where were the oreos??? Just tasted like 70% milk, 20% cream/sprinkles and 10% actual oreo. Really disappointed with this. It ain't really that hard to wrong with a milkshake especially if your main ingredient is the oreo biscuits. A few sips in, both shakes were in the bin. If your looking craving for something sweet, take the hint and go to a dessert shop or something.
For an establishment that is franchised, I really did expect better. Your food must be doing something right to be franchising in the first place. I understand that its lockdown and business is going to be slow, but I have been to restaurants that still serve their food to the best standards despite lockdown. I can't really speculate a lot for the reasons but I expected a better much better eating experience. Maybe its the location? The situation? But to be a halal restaurant besides a curryhouse, would it of been better to try them instead?
Hopefully this is a one time experience and the ONLY time, but slacking due to the pandemic shouldn't be an option. Provide fresh food, hot food, dare I say...
Read moreWe went me and my children last night and it wasn't a first time to visit the Farros i even recommended to my friends. However, I'm thinking not to go there anymore to be honest. There were customers having their meals when we walked in but I think we were the last customers who came in at that time. We ordered the food which It's delicious as usual apart from my daughter's order cause she asked for the chilli to be removed means she doesn't want it hot yet she had spicy food and even worse when I spoke to the waiter when he asked me about the food and his answer was " I will let them know." No apology or ask in the kitchen what went wrong. Not until later when all of the waiters suddenly walked into our table and started removing everything off the table. not only that, my son was holding his gravy and it's been taken of him. We first thought it was not real maybe a prank, and that's when we realised that they are about to close. I'm not been funny but I think when a customer who came to have food in a restaurant not for free but its been paid for should be respectfully treated. in a way I'm very disappointed and didn't appreciate the way we were served last night it would've been better if any of the staff came to let us know about they're closing soon regardless if we know the opening hours or not that was unacceptable behaviour towards customers who chosen to have a meal in your restaurant. I hope you get a chance to look at this matter cause it won't be the last time this...
Read moreI had a blast. I went yesterday for my birthday. I wasn't in the best place, plus I have social anxiety, but the staff made me feel very warm and comfortable immediately with how understanding and accommodating they were of me and my social hiccup. All of the staff were kind to me, mostly the women (which I prefer) especially; Samina, the beautiful manager and Prerana, the beautiful server, who chatted with me like I was an old friend and were kind and soft spoken. They walked me through everything, helped me navigate the menu when they noticed I was getting overwhelmed and they suggested the Strawberry mango sundae which I had never had but it was awesome. The Sirloins +pasta+rice+fries combo was delicious. The double sided chicken starter was also good with peppercorn sauce. They also too GENUINELY beautiful pictures of me, which isn't a normal occurrence for me. They also played the happy birthday song for me which made me feel very shy but I really did appreciate it. They really made me feel so much better and I didn't even cry despite celebrating my birthday alone. I really want to give a big shout out and thanks to the staff and these two awesome women (I was too anxious to ask the names of the others, I'm sorry). Thank you for giving me my favorite memory of 2025 and an awesome birthday that I will NEVER forget. I'll be back as...
