I've been here a good few times, and each time has been of diminishing value. I usually go for the bottomless brunch for time with my friends and/loved ones, but I will touch on a few things of note. The menu as of this time has been streamlined, but likely in a cost saving effort so I can't fault them on it. The Cuban, which I've had before and was delicious, has been removed. This might be a seasonal choice, so always check the online menu for what fares are available. Also, for some reason the vegan food is cooked the the fryer used for dairy products???? This is mentioned in the small print on the back of the menu, but many will take them on good faith. So, vegans beware if this is a deal breaker for you.
Music volume hovers between loud and being able to feel the base punching you in the gut. If you have sensory sensitivity for hearing, bring earplugs, or what have you to survive. While this is probably okay at night, I usually go midday and the volume is jarringly excessive. We did ask for the volume to be lowered, and they did so bear that in mind. The staff are friendly, so don't hesitate to ask. Soft-spoken people might struggle to be heard here.
The value of the bottomless brunch has hit a record low. It used to be two hours for a starter, a main, and flowing prosecco with a £5 upgrade to bottomless cocktails. This was a good pace as you've got two hours to kill and gave time to eat, chat, eat, then chat more. It then was a single price point for a decent sized brunch plate, bottomless cocktails, and the option for the upgrade was then to include dessert. At that time the meal options were still pretty good, offering quite a nice selection. The current arrangement is a small menu of small plate mains, cocktails, and you can upgrade for £5.50 to a full sized meal from the menu with some exclusions. The brunch aspect of bottomless brunch has become a pointless feature, and it is now a focus on drinks. It's almost expected to upgrade for a meal, and the value isn't there anymore. That being said; they are more than happy to change the drinks to mocktails for individuals so you can have a great time with all your friends as a single group. We did enjoy the mocktails (I had cocktails), and the food was delicious (though the brunch sized plates are a value only with the rice bowl).
All in all, if you are happy with a drinks focused two hour experience, then I can still recommend the bottomless brunch. The drinks are lovely, the staff is lovely, and they have dishes for all dietary needs. If you are more focused on the food aspect, you will struggle spending the full two hours (we only managed an hour and fifteen...
Read moreWe recently chose Las Iguanas to host a bottomless brunch for two of my friends, who share a birthday on the 19th of October.
We were left disappointed with the speed of service on the 20th of October, managing far less drinks than usual at Las Iguanas. For the past year and a half we’ve been to your bottomless brunch multiple times, having 8-9 drinks each time. This was not the case this time, managing 4-5. The glasses of bubbly were pre-poured and were only half glasses.
To add to that, we weren’t asked to place our food orders, and some drinks were missed in a few rounds. One of our waitresses also told us to order the same drinks so it would be faster, which we tried on one round and it didn’t make a difference! On our final round, we only received 3 cocktails, not the 6 other glasses of prosecco/pink bubbles we requested. In all our previous visits, we were always asked for our last drink just before brunch ended, but this time our last order was placed nearly 30 minutes before the end of our brunch. I was also disappointed to find out that you no longer offer the bottomless bubbly alongside your cocktails, like in previous experiences we’d always been offered.
We asked for the bill and it was brought over and there was no mention that we still hadn’t ordered our food dish with the bottomless brunch. After speaking to the staff the best offer they could give us was the student bottomless brunch pricing. We also asked for the 6 glasses of Prosecco we had missing and the staff member said that “it doesn’t really matter now”
As someone who used to love Las Iguanas bottomless brunch and raved about it to lots of my friends, I’m now left disappointed - it’s made me not want to return. It genuinely used to be my go - to bottomless brunch place, travelling from derby with my friends on a regular basis just...
Read moreI try to be positive with reviews, but there is very little good to say about Las Iguanas in Nottingham.
We arrived at 8.30 and were told there would be a 45-minute wait and 2 items weren't on the menu - understandable for a Saturday night.
Cocktails were generally watery, and when it came to ordering, we were told that it would not be possible to remove the coleslaw from the burrito as it was made in the morning- not great that such a simple thing couldn't be accomodated. When ordering the rest of the food, 2 more items were not available, meaning 4 of us didn't get what we wanted.
The area by the toilets smelt very bad and this is right next to the kitchen which is concerning. The women's toilets were filthy, in need of a face-lift, and with toilet paper in only one out of four cubicles. There was dirty water all over the floor, and the gents' toilets were in a similar state of disrepair.
We were told an hour after ordering that there would be a further wait for 10- 20 minutes. It might have been an idea to be offered a complimentary drink for this, but the waitress simply offered to order more drinks for us and wasn't particularly apologetic.
When the food arrived, the portions were ridiculous for what is charged - £18 for a fatty piece of poorly cooked pork and some hard chips. Chilli was fine. Curries were quite tasty but again vastly overpriced for the portion size.
We hadn't finished eating, and the waitress was trying to clear our plates. I understand it's not a five-star restaurant, but there seemed to be a lack of basic training.
All in all, it was thoroughly disappointing and a sad end to a...
