Not terrible but not good, either. There are much better sandwiches and coffee to be had elsewhere in Oxford. I had baguette with chorizo, which looked and tasted like it came out of a cornershop pre-sliced pack. (I can never understand why places like this do not buy chorizo sausages and slice it themselves, freshly. It would taste much better and probably not cost more to buy, if carefully sourced.) Update: I came back after an interval of two years because I was with a friend who was desperate for a coffee near Christchurch. I still feel very lukewarm about this place. Service was slow and very minimal: you have to collect your coffee from the counter (they do not bring it to the table) and they forgot part of my order and I had to reminded them. They were very slow to clear tables: I saw several customers having to clear tables themselves. It feels like they are just used to serving a stream of tourists, and really don't care if thy ever see any customer again. I certainly won't...

I really enjoyed my first visit to this lovely café.
There's a wide range of homemade dishes to choose from all made from fresh ingredients.
The service was excellent, efficient and friendly. I sat at a beautiful rustic bench style table, ideally situated at the entrance where I had a beautiful view of St Aldates.
The smoked salmon salad was adequately portioned and came with a side of pesto dressing which was absolutely delicious, I had to ask for a top up which was no trouble at all.
It was also so nice to enjoy a breakfast bap that's not served in a brioche bun but rather as English tradition intended! Coupled with a tea or latte of you choice, it was an affordable £5.95.
I'm looking forward to my next visit to this delightful cafe in the near future
Thanks for a welcoming and...
Read moreArtisan cafe were absolutely fantastic in catering for an event I was running for 50 people this May. They were lovely from start to finish; they were brilliant at communication and very flexible in catering for different dietaries. They provided us with ham and cheese croissants (freshly baked that morning) for breakfast, and some delicious desserts for the afternoon (Victoria sponge cakes, chocolate cake/caramel bits, and raspberry macarons). More generally-- they have great coffee and are a favourite spot of mine within Oxford. Everyone who works there is incredibly friendly and their selection of sandwiches/sweet treats is of a much higher quality than anywhere else. I couldn't recommend them more, whether you're organising an event or in search of a coffee and...
