I often come to Oxford for work, mostly to take my clients to different sightseeing places such as Christ Church. I sometimes have to wait for them while they are in the Christ Church, and this cafe is a perfect location for a quick break. There are plenty of seats available inside, however, due to its good location, it can be busy during the day. It is perfect to get your work done as there are big tables or counter seats with plugs available. I appreciate this cafe a lot as it gives me such a relaxed vibe during my quick break from work. The only thing was sometimes the service can be slow, so I’d recommend sparing at least 40-45 minutes if you plan to get sandwiches etc.

I think I’ve found the perfect toilet 😎 Amazing art, no his/hers/theirs/disabled toilet or anything, just a ‘toilet’, accessible to all, with grab rails, plenty of space to manoeuvre a wheelchair or buggy, a baby change, sanitary bin, normal bin, plenty of bog roll and everything immaculately clean. As a dad of young kids I’ve often had to choose whether to change a baby on the floor of the men’s loo (🤮) or take my chances with a million apologies to try and access the baby change unit in the ladies’. Amazing how many places still don’t provide baby change in the men’s 🤯 Top marks to the Independent Cafe in Oxford 👌👏

If I was reviewing just the coffee then definitely 5 stars! The coffee was extremely flavourful and silky, definitely recommend. The were staff very friendly too. The food however was a slightly underwhelming. I read grilled sourdough sandwiches and expected some thick homemade bread with fresh fillings, but unfortunately the bread was really thin. The Parma ham sandwich was very nice, but the brie and cranberry (with crispy bacon strips) had an odd taste to it, and the bacon was neither crispy or in strips. I raised the issue and the staff who gladly changed the sandwich for me.

Absolutely awful experience . Sunday afternoon : we got in in a group of 4 with a 4 months baby and a dog . 1. No one come to the table asking whether we wanted to order something or to let us know that table service wasn’t there perhaps ? Still don’t know 2. We basically got kicked out at 5 past 5 with a quite aggressive behaviour telling us to get out from the place as they were about to close and they needed to get the chairs on the table - 3. My friend was feeding a 4 months old and my husband was in the toilet, i ve asked if they could be patient and wait for just 5 minutes that my friend could finish with the kid and my husband getting off the bathroom - she said no you need to wait outside and asked me to move the trolley , the baby bag and 7 shopping bags as we just come back from Bicester village and plus has the dog lead - so again I’ve asked to wait 5 minutes that the others could come and help me she said no and she started putting ( almost throwing the chairs on the table) - absolutely unacceptable behaviour- rude and awful / In my opinion the owner should fire a blond waitress who clearly couldn’t care less about customer service and just wanted...

Delicious food but unfriendly and rude staff particularly to babies/parents. Gluten free bread available for toasties and great selection of drinks. Great accessible toilet, high chair available and cosy setting. Unfortunately we found the staff particularly unfriendly and unhelpful towards us and our babies. Despite our efforts ie packing up some of our buggies and of course making sure the babies weren't disturbing other people and also spending plenty of money with them, what seemed to be the supervising staff member rudely asked us to remove our cups and crockery from a table (out of baby reach) that wasn't being used when there were at least 3 other tables free. Was not provided with an alternative place to put things, just rudely asked to move because they would lose customers. Even after we explained that we would happily remove if anyone came in, they continued to treat us as a bother and unwelcome customers for the rest of our stay. If you are a sleep deprived mama or dad, would recommend steering clear of the agg you would get here. A shameful lack...

Fancied a nice vegan sandwich for lunch. I asked the waiter if they have any vegan sandwiches and she replied hesitantly with "we have vegan cheese?".

I first opted for the black olive tapenade, not knowing what a tapenade was but was assured it was vegan. After ordering, I googled to realise it has anchovies in it.

So, I went back to swap to a ploughmans with vegan cheese, which was £1 cheaper (I wasn't offered back the difference).

I was then served with a sad-looking charred sandwich which was very underwhelming. Definitely not worth the price.

The water bottles also look like they haven't been cleaned in a week, just had to hope I wouldn't get ill from the water.

And they don't have table numbers, so the waiter wanders around aimlessly hoping the order arrives at the right table.

Would not recommend coming for food. Seems a nice place to study with a...
