Had an absolutely amazing evening! Came here with my long distance boyfriend for meal as we were looking for something different than just a usual 3 course meal. Our lovely waitress Jenny, took time to explain the menu well and also to get to know us! The restaurant was fairly empty to begin but soon filled up and had an amazing atmosphere!
There is a good selection of wines by the glass. We were even asked if we needed any help pairing. We went for the Picpoul de Pinet and it was crisp and refreshing. We didn’t have time to explore the rest of the drinks menu, so we must come back to try the rest.
The food was by far the star of the show! We got the sharing platter for 2 with the steak, and an extra side of mussels. The steak was phenomenal, well seasoned and just the right amount of salty! The rest of the platter was the perfect size for 2 people with a little bit to take home as well. We grazed over our wine, and the balance of all the different flavours was just what we needed. My boyfriend’s favourite was the scotch egg (which was a close second for me), and my favourite was definitely the steak!
I cannot recommend enough, from the amazing food to the fantastic service, this is the best evening out...
Read moreI decided to visit Honky Tonk in Plymouth after seeing all the great reviews, and since I had a few hours to kill that afternoon. I walked in around 2:30 PM and was greeted by a kind lady at the counter. She mentioned the kitchen was about to close, so only the cheese selection was available. I understand what it’s like when a customer walks in right before closing, so to keep it simple, I just ordered a portion of chips, especially as she couldn’t list what cheeses were left after the lunch rush. Unfortunately, the experience was slightly uncomfortable due to a loud personal conversation between the server and the chef, which carried on the entire time I was there. It felt a bit unprofessional and made it hard to relax.
What surprised me most was how the place holds a 4.9 rating on Google. At around 3 PM, a man walked in, but as the server was eating behind the counter and the chef had gone on a break, no one greeted him. After waiting about 5 minutes, he left.
It was an interesting visit – not terrible, but certainly not what I expected based on the...
Read moreThe most amazing place. I was worried it may be a little pretentious as its a wine library and my knowledge of wines is minimal at best, but I couldn’t be more wrong. The team were all so warm and friendly, with such an attentive service, striking the perfect balance of leaving you enough to enjoy your evening without interruption but never being left to long you feel like you’ve been forgotten. The food was also amazing, with a lovely gluten free flat bread and gluten free onion bhaji (100% recommend). It can sometimes be hard to find great gluten free places where you leave in a food coma, but I certainly didn’t struggle here, with the team letting me know what I could and couldn’t have but making changes where they could so I could still eat what I wanted. Lastly lots of lovely little touches like hand sanitizer at the table, and various toiletries in the toilet. Overall we had a lovely night out here, I will be recommending to anyone and everyone that will listen, it’s perfect for any occasion and I can’t...
