One of the few that charges sensible prices for soft drinks and always a warm welcome from the staff. Particularly like Soapbox Culture, 2nd Wednesday of every month, open mic spoken word and poetry from local wordsmiths but also drawing poets in from the rest of Devon and Cornwall. A fantastic pub just out of Plymouth city centre, it does the basics right - there's a good selection of well-kept real ales and craft beers, and a clean and comfortable smoking area, it's also something of a cultural hub, and most nights of the week will have an interesting range of alternative music on offer.
