We (12) pre-ordered our mains with the reservation the day/two days before our visit. Somehow the Charcuterie (cold meats, cheese, pickles and fruit) took the longest to arrive so about 15mins after everyone elses pizzas and pies arrived ours (2) turned up, apparently the bread was the issue but why wasn't that mentioned when we arrived? The option of switching to a pizza would have been very much welcome. The Charcuterie is sold for £26 and is said to be for 2-4 people, we couldn't see how, we counted 6 slices of the meat (waffer thin as it should), a chutney, butter, grapes, 6 slices of very small bread (could be described as a mini roll) which was toasted on one side only, 3x 3inch pieces of "artisanal" cheese, all fridge cold which was great for the cream cheese but cheddar and stilton???. We munched on as we'd just finished a 2hour walking tour and were hungry as heck, although we did ask for extra bread. One of our party ordered a Pepsi and what came was diet which they didn't want and obviously didn't order but instead of it being taken away a proclamation about the sugar tax was made and the waitress left us with no alternative on offer. We felt very much like an inconvenience rather than a large table of pre-ordered paying customers on what looked to have been a quiet part of the evening. The puddings brought smiles back to most of our faces and gained an extra star on this review they are seriously worth that...
Read moreHaving visited the Fistral stable in Newquay many times we were excited to try Plymouth as the service at fistral is always amazing and the food and cider top notch.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a female waitress who showed us to our table and then when the qr code for menus wasn't working, kept showing us the takeaway menu, she gave us paper menus and then took our orders.
Drinks arrived in great time and the starters shortly after but then the service just seemed to go out the window from then on, half way through our starters some male server decided he would bring out our mains, and piled them on top of our starters, there was no room on the table and plates were stacked on top of starter plates, absolute shambles!!!! He then after about 15-20 mins tried to remove plates of food with food still on it 🤦🤦🤦🤦 totally ruined the experience after it started so well.
The puddings came out shortly after and they were unfortunately a bit of a disappointment, bit of whipped cream, one biscuit and one scoop of ice cream didn't look as good as they sounded on the menu.
after the amazing experience we've had at fistral we probably won't visit Plymouth again as the food just wasn't anywhere as good and the service was just terrible. Female waitress was lovely though so she should've just looked after...
Read moreI don't normally go for bottomless brunches, I'm not a big fan of the concept of trying to get your money's worth by rushing your drinking in and trying to neck enough alcohol in a short period ot time for you to feel you got a good deal. However, in the case of the Stable, I completely revise my thoughts! The bar had a pleasant atmosphere, upstairs on the balcony in the sun was fantastic, but for me what made it was the staff. I felt like they really put in extra work to accomodate our requests and the chap who served us was such a nice guy who had a big genuine smile on his face every time he came over to our table and in general just did a brilliant job. I wish I had found out his name so I could praise him specifically here, as he was a big part of our great experience. It appears the Stable has singlehandedly changed my mind about bottomless brunches. All of us agreed that it would be rude for us not to go back. Keep doing what you're doing, as having happy employees really shines through and makes the experience for the guests considerably better than just having a good venue and good food (which...
