Staff were incredibly helpful and everyone was working hard on a busy Saturday afternoon. The cafe was busy but I was seated and received my food quickly. There was a small mix up with my cake and the staff member could not have been more apologetic even though it wasn't her fault and it was resolved immediately with my thanks.

This is a really underrated place to stop in for lunch or even just a pretty decent coffee. The menu is fairly traditional and basic but it's exactly what you need. Not the most trendy place so the average clientele are over 50 and you won't see groups of teenagers squabbling over the difference between chai and pesto. Bathroom facilities are excellent but there is only one.

Prices are very reasonable and they also offer discounted takeaway prices and a loyalty hot drink scheme.

I'd definitely recommend walking past the big coffee chains and heading over to Malcolm Barnecutt, a stone's throw from Drake's Circus and they have outside seating...

Super coffee shop and bakery. Ot has a super range of fresh cakes everyday to eat in or take away it has an outdoor eating area as well which is always shaded a d good on a hot day for keeping out of the sun. They typically serve pies, pasties, and sausage rolls along with sandwiches, baguettes, toasties, pannini's, and bacon rolls, which are great with an egg. It's extremely popular and busy and can get extremely noisy, making it hard to hold a conversation. Staff wise, they can be a little frumpy and grumpy, especially the older ones close to retirement. But the younger ones serving are cheerful enough. You will have to que at the counter to order, unfortunately, but the food is brought to the table fairly quickly. Staff should be a lot more attentive to who has been queing for longer than others and not enable behaviour from others pushing in. I have worked in customer service for years and know its the basic requirement of your job to be attentive to customers and who is next in line. I waited ages had people push in and when finally stated my order i was made to feel awkward and uncomfortable by the staff and even from people who pushed right in front of me! Should be ashamed. Weird place weird service wont return and will share my experience...
